I was out on Sunday only. Third time at Spring Mountain and only second track event in this car. Ran a 2:47:6xx so I was pretty happy.

Thanks again for taking a look at the car and the tips. I had hoped to be there Saturday and get some hints and tips from you about the track but just couldn't make it happen. You coming to Auto Club in November?

I see that now - they messed up the entry:

Estimated Wheel Horsepower & Torque: 480 – 335 SAE flywheel

That still begs the question - what makes all that HP and no torque? Supercharged?

I believe this is referring to the Fontana Nissan 350z they have been running in the Redline time attack. It is N/A. Here is a link to the build

Still... I would image it would require more than running it hard. They are using a sick dry-sump setup, and a problem with lubrication at 8500-9000 rpm wil destroy a camshaft quickly. Considering they run agaist 700-1000 hp GTRs and NSXs I wonder if they were pushing some of the limits further than they should have. Or maybe a bad grind/billet stock? Dunno, but that is a wierd failure.

Oh BTW, the engine is broken in and will be taking it for a dyno later next week then a tune shortly after, RTA CA Speedway should be do-able and hopefully I get a couple of Speed Venture events in before.

It would have been nice to have been eligible for the enthusiast class, I lap Big Willow somewhere around the 38's-39's with 300 rated tires so I think it would have been the perfect fit. But there's no way I'll fit in that class with a built bottom-end, also sucks there's no way I'll be competitive in the Buddy Club class w/o FI at Cal Speedway (not to say I would have been competitive in enthusiast anyhow). Kinda stuck in-between classes. Because it wasn't the plan to build an engine to the spec of a certain class' rules I'll just have to be out for fun. It was close, I think the rods will be my only illegal mod in the engine, but oh well.

Terrasmak, before you do your freshen up/build make sure to take a peak at those rules, if you haven't already. It a big step up in output when you have to go up against turbo-charged 135's with a good budget and very open engine building rules.

Its going to be an enthusiast class build, but may hold out a little and look into street. With all the bigger names going to the Pro side of RTA it may be worth it.

I'm also interested to see if a difference can be felt from the Nismo wing you put on Terrasmak. I wouldn't imagine Spring Mountain was fast enough to notice but Cal Speedway will be.

Has the NISMO wing been quantified to provide additional down force? If so, but what mechanism (wind tunnel)?
