Default Help with Wheel/Tire size!

Help with wheel sizes Please.
Want to make my 03 Z a dedicated track car. I have good experience and
run in the upper run groups in DE's. I/m considering Enkei PFO1's
8.5 245/35/18 F and 9.5 275/18/40 R. offset's ? To be run on R6 Hoosiers.
Is that wide enough? I need them to clear 14" Stoptech's.
I know there is some who run square vs staggered. I need some advise from people that run a dedicated track setups.
Thanks

For Hoosiers you can run 285's up front on 9.5 X 18 with ET 20-24 and for rear run 295 Hoosiers on 18X9.5-10.5 on ET 18-25 also. You can also run
295's on all four for a square setup. depends on HP and driving style. 295's all four is very neutral with power on oversteer. For high HP you can run 315 rear on 10.5-11 with rolled fenders but widest up front would be the 295's.

My dedicated track car runs Enkei RPF1s (lighter than the PF01s) in 18x10 with 285-295 R6s all around. If you are going to shop anyway, might as well start with bigger, lighter (and cheaper) wheels.

The 295 Hoosier, per their site, can be run on 9.5" wheels, but the 285, with the smaller sidewall, requires a 10" wheel. The 285 and the 295 are essentially the same width. The Hoosier 315 needs to go on an 11" wheel minimum, and there aren't too many options for 11" wheels, as I've been looking.

Don't go by their website as I have run the 285 and 295 on 9.5 width no problems on all four corners. I have not run 315's myself but others have run 315 Toyo 888's on 10.5's successfully...

I've confirmed it on the phone with them as well. Most of their tires run larger than a comparable R888, etc., so there is no reason to run the extra width tire without the added width in the wheel. For autox, guys go outside of the recommended widths with success, but for track tires, I like to stick with what the manufacturer says is the best size to run, as I didn't do the R&D to come up with those recommended widths.

Toyo approves the 315 tire on a 10.5" wheel, likely because it's only 0.1" wider than their 305: http://toyotires.com/tire/pattern/proxes-r888

Hoosier does not: http://www.hoosiertire.com/

Believe me, I'd love to get someone at Hoosier to say that the 315 is ok and better (i.e. will be faster) than their 285 or 295 on my 10.5" wheels, as I'd run them myself.

Agreed!

25 pics of 285/30/18s on 18x10 RPF1 wheels: http://gotbluemilk.com/web100225/219/index.html

4 x 18x10 +38 with 285/30 tires. 10mm spacer in the front and 15mm spacers in the rear.

Another pic with the 285/30/18s all around coming out of the corkscrew at Laguna Seca.

285/30 fronts and 295/30 rears on them are ok, too, and I'm confident the 295 will fit up front with no problem as well.
