Default For those of you with gutted cars...

I have a question about the seat belts and the environmental control box. I have tracked the car many times without the seat belt being on or even connected to the latch. I have a harness and harness bar. Well I removed some more weight out of the car this weekend. I pretty much removed all the interior except the dash. I completely removed the seat belts and the seat belt light is on now. Will this prevent me from going over a certain speed since the ECU thinks I am not buckled or can I get the light to go away with Cipher?

I also removed the environmental control box completely and it causes a SES light. Is there a fuse for this or can this also be removed with Cipher?

I have emailed and called Uprev about this, but I have not gotten any responses. I decided to go on here because I know some of you guys have completely gutted cars.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

I don't have any answers for you, but maybe someone on your local NASA forum might? Good luck figuring it out, and report back here with your findings please.

Are you running stock seats? The seatbelt light doesnt even come on if you disconnect the seat belt sensor.

I am not running stock seats. I am running OMP seats. I left the factory seat belts in for awhile and the sensor under the seat stayed un-plugged and I had no issues. No light ever. I used harnesses when I raced and used the seat belts when I drove on the street. Well now the car is 100% race only, so I completely removed the entire seat belt system. Now the light stays on. I really don't care about the light. I just wanted to know if it is going to cause the car not to go over a certain speed because the ECU thinks I am not buckled. If it won't, then I really don't care.

Thanks guys! I am going to try to find more info out.

I highly doubt no seat belts is going to cause the car not to go over a certain speed. I've never gone over 100mph without my seat belt but I don't see why the car would let you go 60mph without a seat belt which can kill you in an acceident but not over 100mph or more.

are you sure its not the airbag light on??? seat belt light is off when disconnected... did you somehow ground the seat belt connector to make the light come on???

Actually it might be the airbag light. It's a red light that has a person in a seat with the belt going around them and a red ball in their face. Kind of sounds weird, but that's what it is. I thought that was the seat belt light. I am assuming it's the airbag because of the big red ball thing; guess that's supposed to be an airbag...LOL Any comments on the environmental controller?

Install resisters everywhere you removed an airbag, then reset the system.

Thanks! Do you know what size resistors?

I actually didn't remove the airbags yet. Just the seat belts seemed to have cause this.

Not off the top of my head, Chobesto did a thread about setting them up on his car when he installed his race seats. Did you stock seats have airbags in them? I bet they did, and that is what is triggering the light.

I used a 2.2ohm resistor when I took my stock seat out.

The stock seats have been out of the car for over a year. It wasn't until this past weekend when I removed the stock seat belts that the airbag light came on.

Thanks. I will give that a try. There is a little yellow plug below the B-pillar where the seat belt mechanism that rolled the belt up was mounted. That yellow plug connected to it. I will use the resistor there.

Thanks!

Yellow plugs ALWAYS mean SRS system. Be careful, I've seen airbags go off from messing with them.

Mine was on the floorpan which connected to the seat.. You may need to do some additional research to make sure 2.2 is correct for the B-pillar one.

^This

You always want to be carefull and follow the correct procedure to dissable the SRS system before unplugging stuff. People have died or experienced extensive injuries from airbags deploying infront of them...

I member the first time i took out my steering wheel airbag i put on my friend streetbike helmet cause i was so freaked out haha...

Thanks guys. I am terrified of airbags going off too. I am going to be removing my steering wheel over winter to put a quick release race one on and I am not looking forward to it. I know it's simple and easy, but it still scares me.
