Default C-Stock Autocross, what tires on V1 Rays?

Can someone please suggest optimal r-compound tire sizes for a stock 03 Z with V1 Rays wheels (18x8.5, 18x8)? What have you had success with? Hoosiers, V710s etc.

Thanks.

I'd go 285/30 or 295/30's. The 295's give you a little extra gear...which you may need on stock rev limiter at Fedex.

How serious are you about winning?
V710s are slightly slower than Hoosier A6's but last twice as long depending on how you take care of them.

I agree with 03threefiftyz on sizes as long as you have someone that is willing to get "creative" on getting the bead to set. These R-comps tend to have difficult sidewalls.
275's should be an EASY fit.

If you go with 285 or 295....I know plenty of people in MD that can get 'em mounted for you.

Hoosier A6 if u are serious, it has a pretty decent performance gap above the V710.
But A6 drop off pretty quickly after 24 runs or so in my experience, after that it's par with the V710, but V710 last hell a lot longer

Thanks for the tips! So is there no concern about rubbing with these? If I were to run, say, 285s on the rear (8.5" wide wheels) then what should I use on the front (8in)?

HEY 3threefiftyz--I recognize your car--we know each other--my wife and I race the white 07 Subaru-- we were in BSP with you a few times last year. We're going to try some events in my Z next year. I am probably going to go with Kumhos unless I find something used. We have never driven on R-comps or even autox'd the Z before so I think buying new Hoosiers at this point would be a waste.

I may have a bunch of 285 take offs at the end of the year. They will be pretty well used, but would make a few events. Best advice...look around on sccaforums....A6's and 710's pop up on there all the time.

NASA time trial forum too, lots of guys use A6 for their 1 lap attack and take them off afterward.

The next few weeks will be a good time. NASA championships are now just over, SCCA runoffs are this week, and Solo Nationals are done. I like to buy the take offs from the SCCA T2 guys. They usually have 1 or 2 heat cycles and about 40-50% tread left.

295/30R18 Hoosier A6s.

I get about 100 runs out of a set (PSI: 50F/44R), and while they weren't as fast as they were new, they didn't drop off dramatically until about run 105.

Thanks for all the info!

So 295/30s on the rear 8.5 in wide wheels. Are you saying 295 in the front as well, on the 8 inch wheels? Or would the max for those be around 275/30?

I am really looking forward to autoxing this car.

Thanks

The V1 Track wheels have a lot of cool engineering to make them effectively wider (8 5/8 and 9 1/4) at the edge of the bead. 295/30 A6s actually look pretty decent mounted.
