I have xp12 in my car and didn't have that issue so I wonder if they sent you the wrong size pad like for an Sti or evo? Just a thought not sure if they are different or not but definitely go to a full track pad from any of the big name companies as pad choice is a pretty personal preference in my experience some people love hawk and others hate them the, same can be said for every manufacturer out there. I'm going to give the G-Loc a try as I have loved the carbotechs in the past.
Jon
Could be. Although I ordered them from Z1. But I have been less than impressed with them. So who knows.....
I had a guy in a Mustang recommend the Castrol SRF. I might give that a try before Pueblo.
I may have to pick your brain on TT. I know that the "+" really hurts the Z. I thought it would be in C. But D makes a lot more sense for what I've seen running out there.
/thread-drift
The 03-05 Z is base classed in TTC, I highly doubt Greg will reclass it into D.
For reference, my 03 track currently at 268hp/244tq @ 3400lbs got a reclass options of:
TTC* 272hp @ 3400lbs
TTC* 274hp @ 3425lbs
TTC* 276hp @ 3450lbs
I will say, starting with non-track model is the way to go for TTB/C.

No thread drift man. I appreciate discussing this stuff as I've only been on the track a year now.
Yeah, that little star (+7) doesn't really help. I've got Kinetix Arms +4, and the Spec Z sway bars (+4). So I'm already sitting at +15 points if I'm doing the form correctly. TT looks more and more like the next step. Even though I know the Z doesn't do all that well in TT. Maybe I'll just go slicks and move on up to B. Looking at the times, the S2000 kills it in the C class.
My dad uses the motul rbf 660 in his noble and it has been great for us and I have always used the ate super blue and have had no issue but we normally bleed before each track day.
Hopefully will hear back from Greg shortly as my email got lost in spam but my car makes about 30rwhp less than yours flier so hopefully that helps. Sorry about the thread jack.
Here's a video I took with my iPhone. There is lots of vibration and I forgot to allow access to my microphone on the new phone, so there is no sound. But this is High Plains Raceway east of Denver a ways. I ran a 2:14 on street tires, so I'm pretty happy with that.
Well, I'm not smart enough to embed a video. I'll work on it. Here's a link:
What he said.... or you can do what I did and just wait for winter to roll around and then do it At the point that you're at just take a cordless drill with a wire brush attachment and clean it off... good work!!! Awesome to see more and more z racecars.
Well, 2018 pretty much sucked. I wasn't sure if I was going to have a job or be long term disability. So it was a little hard to spend money on playing at the track. Now that things are MUCH better, it's time to play. Just thought I'd give a little update. Still slowly working on the car to go Spec Z, but my good friend is trying to get me to come to SCCA.
Anyways, got the KW's on and went to our local track. I was really happy with a personal best with REALLY bald tires. I'm going to order some more aggressive tires soon. So I hope those times to come down. Being my first time back, I was still fairly conservative. I definitely found myself coasting into the corners instead of being on the gas till the last second. So I know I was leaving a lot of time on the table.
So here are some pics if you're bored.
The wife drove the GTI (my daily driver). Nice to have a wife who goes to the track and drives with you.
I am from Denver as well. Maybe I see you out there at High Plains Raceway some time this year and we can trade notes. I went to HPR last week after a long hiatus from any track day. It was a blast! So far my PB is 2:09 with lots of traffic in a novice group. Hoping to see a 2:06-2:07 by the end of this year.

That's funny. I think I just watched your video on youtube. I ran a 2:09 as well. I'd say I'd like to be in the same ballpark as you by year end. That's such a great track. I'll probably stick to the Friday sessions. You certainly have less people.

Also in Denver - were you out with the mustang/exotic group? I'm dipping my toe into it as my former boss & his wife are well-in with PCA and spend a bunch of time out there.
Would like to get a track z33 for track use and drive with he, his wife, and everyone else. He runs a 2016 boxster s. It was fun for sure!
Well it's been over a year since I've updated this thread. And what a year it's been. I was out of work for six months due to a medical issue, so it was kind of hard to spend a lot of money on a track toy. After getting back to work and having a shop built, it was time to get back to the Z.
In the past 8 months or so, I've managed to get quite a bit done to the car. I've never even dropped a transmission before, but with a shop, a lift, and youtube, I was able to get a clutch and lighter NISMO flywheel installed. It took a while, but I was able to do it by myself. It even works.😂
I also got the NISMO rear diff with solid SPL bushings installed.
I found a local shop to do a roll cage. I can't tell you how happy I am with how it came out.
Obviously a lot of other things were installed. Such as a wheel, seat, brake vents, and I had them put a oil cooler and larger radiator put in. So she's coming along nicely. Since my goal is to run in NASA's Spec Z, I had it tuned to 255 horsepower at a local shop (258 is the max for this year car).
Here's a link (I'm not smart enough to embed) to video of my local track here in Colorado. I ran a 2:05 at High Plains Raceway. I'm really happy considering my tires were completely shot.
