Default build your own CoolShirt System

So if you live in TX like me, you might find this post useful since you understand how brutal this summer has been here. This is no different than any other DIY coolshirt build but since i don't see one here I just wanna share my experience with building one. you can certainly google "DIY coolshirt" and you would be able to find plenty of info on how to build your own.

Total Cost of my build is below:
Cooler $25
Bilge Pump $15
Fittings $60
Hoses $20
Silicone $5
T-shirt FREE
Aluminum L bar for brackets $10
Aluminum sheet for baffle plate $10

Total Cost: ~$150

Overall I think I could've find some savings in fittings/aluminum materials had I know what exactly I wanna get, but given the limitation of what I could find at local stores that's all I could do.

You could use another cooler with a smaller capacity, but I wanted to find one that fits under the rear bar, and I can slide in and out easily. And that's the only one I find in Amazon that fits the criteria.

The only fittings that was not bought in a local stores are the quick disconnects. They're from McMaster-Carr and those alone costed me $20 shipped. Everything else was bought from either Ace or Lowes, and I basically just went there and see what they have to connect the pump to my hoses and that's what I ended up.

Other than that, it's an interesting project. And the end result though doesn't look as good as the REAL Coolshirt System, it gets the job done and saved me at least couple hundred if not more. It's also nice to have a mom that's a professional tailor that you can just throw her the hose and the Tee and have her figure out how to sew it on

So here are the pics:

the little silver things on the side are from IKEA leftover materials. They used to hold bookshelves

toggle switch from Amazon, power supply from cigarette lighter

female/male connection on shirt, when disconnect from tank, I can connect them together to prevent dripping water all over

Not the best looking shirt, but gets the job done!

Though this is more of a DIY post, but I feel it's more for people that track their cars so I decide to post it here. But if it should belong in the DIY section, mod feel free to move to wherever appropriate.
