I recently had a roll bar installed that decreases my rear visibility a bit. I can remedy this by lowering the rear view mirror so my problem is solved. But, it got me wondering about a rear view race camera like you see in some high end race cars.

Doing a search you can find them for around $400.

But it seems to me that there ought to be a cheaper solution that would run through an iPad or even large smart phone.

There are apps that will do this with a wireless back up camera but there are problems because these often shut off when not in reverse or have guide lines visible or the field of view is not what you would want for racing.

So I'm wondering if anyone is aware of a system, wifi or wired, that would integrate with an iPad for this purpose.

 

Any double din chepo screen that supports a backup cam can do the same thing. The perspective might be off, would take some fiddling im sure
