Awesome! Thanks for sharing your build. Beautiful car. Please share photos of suspension?
I'm going through a transition in my build. Buying a Cayman set me back financially for a few months so I decided to take the summer off from the track. I'll get back to my build thread soon. Just a few things to do before October, not a complete rebuild or anything... I had a "mad bug" since last summer but fortunately have not broken down at any point yet. |
Thanks ! The car has stock suspension I ordered some parts but not the suspension right now. I'm going to start with the chassi and go from there.
At the moment I started work on the work shop where the build is going to be. Hope in 1-2 weeks to finish because the car has to be done for next year. I hope this build to be a good one and I'm also open to advice from you guys that have done this ! |
Looking good, nice to see some Romanian representation. Welcome!
|
Welcome- it's always good to see the Z33 being raced in other venues. As someone who races in the USA, I'm always curious about how it works in other countries. Who does the sanctioning and organizing for your time trial competition? Do they really pay much for a pro competition? Also, do you own the well-equipped shop your car is prepped at, or do you work there?
|
Dr Hoon: Thank you !!!
DKMura: We have the Romanian federation of motorsport and other organizations with the support of the federation organize events in Rally, Drift, Hillclimb, Endurance series, Time Attack...and so on... We need Racing License and depending on the Sport the car has to be in spec In Time Attack i was in class '' Tuned '' for example the safety was not mandatory but recommended but in other classes like Race, Pro, Pro GT....etc. was mandatory so it depends As for the workshop I bought a place and started last week to make it a proper place to build a race car, the place is a s**t hole but I hired some construction guys to make it better |
Like I said , very crappy but the construction guys are working hard

that lift is a step above what most guys are doing. I just have jack stands & a couple of nice jacks and a broken toe to prove it.
what did you do with the engine when you pulled it? I was surprised to see you pulled the engine but haven't touched the suspension so the engine must have been toast? |
No problems with the engine, I pulled the engine out for 2 reasons:
1. I bought the car with slight damage on the front right and the front had a slight bend and the engine was in the way 2. With the engine out is much easy to change the headers, the problem was because they were China after install tried to put the engine back but driver side header was hitting the steering shaft......so finaly only ended up with installing decats and Y pipe I did not swap the suspension because I had only 2 weeks time and to order them I had to wait 20 days... |

Here is no money :)))) Only some products like oils and stuff. In the Pro series as far as I seen 1st place won 1000Euro and this was a Rally event.....
This is a Time Attack event here in Romania where I won https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....b9e458caee.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....bf90013eab.jpg |
OK- what are the entry fees for the TT and the pro series like?
|
The TT is a 2 days event and I have 2 pay 180Euro/event I pay in advance full season ( 7 races ) they are making a discount and the Pro series between 200-400 Euro / event depends on the class
|
Nice video Dorin! I paid more than that for last weekend and I had to instruct to get that price lol. But that's deceiving, have to adjust for wages and cost of living to get the real picture.
|
The walls on the workshop almost finished only small things need to be done, hope this weekend to finish the floor and the electric

Working day and night to finish the floor

beautiful!
I want to get some stucco filler to put in the concrete stress dividers in my garage. I did that at my previous house and haven't gotten around to it here. I like having one large smooth surface so when I roll over it it doesn't threaten to snag. I've already fallen off my rolling chair. |
Looks nice- the secret to putting down epoxy flooring is all in the preparation. a good wash and thorough muriatic acid etch really gives the paint something to hang onto.
|
The floor is finished, I hope it dries well because I still have to fix the electrical installation and lights
|
So after so much work the workshop is 95% complete, now I have a proper place to start the build. The tools are with UPS I hope to get them this week

Love the shine of newly poured floors. Hopefully you added some traction flakes so it's not an ice rink. I only did a floor without the flakes once, when wet it was downright dangerous, learned my lesson quick.
|
I don't like the flakes, I will keep the floor clean with a machine from Karcher :)
|
wow, your own full size service station. did you lease it? I've been wanting to move closer to work for quite a while now but I'm waiting to find a property with room for a large garage.
|
I bought it from the bank, it was seized.....it's not very big but is very close to home
|
I made a lid for the bottom storage and I also received the first package from UPS and first day inside for the Z

Great story!
I recently finished a shop build of my own, but it is a space for other projects instead of just being dedicated for vehicles. Obviously, I approve of the floor choice! I don't like the flakes either. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....a1e45b5214.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....faf2e1e416.jpg You're going to love having a lift. I know I do! |
Very nice, I like it !!!
Today UPS came again from all the boxes I was waiting for this one from USA !!! I always hade in the back of the head the picture of a garage with all of this on the walls. I think is brain wash from Need For Speed :))))) https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....dfd48e46f3.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....6d0909bf5f.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....d5ae6a2f9e.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....aa6967b90b.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....e0272881fe.jpg |

nice! what wheels?
|
Who made the control arms? Those look beefy.
|
this looks like it's going to be a very satisfying build. looking forward to it!

coming together nice! good work
|
Today was full attack !!!
My brother in law and the old man came to help because I was over my head, UPS every day with parts and stuff for the work shop. I am happy that it is progressing quickly, we managed to fill the bed of a Dodge Ram :)) ,tomorrow I hope the chassis will be empty even if we have to stay until late at night https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....f0ec175dde.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....3b524a5fed.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....77d04bfa3a.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....c3f5f39bf8.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....b6e9d80eb1.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....d82d94b8a4.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....8a2942d6e9.jpg |
Wow is all I can say. This post has made more progress in one month than nearly every single thread in the history of this site. Honestly. Incredible.
|
Who wakes up in the morning gets a 350Z done :)))
Manage to empty the shell finally, tomorrow hoping to get my hands on some dry ice for the insulation inside ( another pain in the but) and have to build something with wheels to push it around. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....28df4d8f8a.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....5443fbfed7.jpg |
Do you sleep?
|
:))) 5-6h at night
|
Does anyone know someone who can make a custom body kit ???? preferably in Europe if not in the USA
Quality is important and necessary !!!!!! |
damn thats alot of progress, nice work dude. Cant wait to see how it turns out. Are you doing a full cage?
|
Yes, Monday the car has to be in Hungary for the cage build
|
The best custom body kit that I know of for the 350z would be the one with Sasha Anis with Mountain Pass Performance.
Build by Spage Sport https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....f87a16691b.png |
That's cool, exactly what I'm looking for.
I will get in touch with them right away Thank's a lot !!! |
I manage to get some dry ice to take out big part of the insulation.
Found some scrap metal and paint to build something with wheels for the chassi and took it outside for a good deserved wash. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....e48b3f7b23.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....7ce563768d.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....941c2df66.jpeg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....2b3692526.jpeg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....ff26d9ca1.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....c7acb64a0.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....50b8ca6ae.jpeg |
What are the red markings indicating?
|
:))))) So I don't forget when I arrive at the Roll cage fabricator, the area to cut/fabricate/modify....
|
Ready for the Roll Cage, Tomorrow leaving to Hungary

good work, interested to see how the cage turns out
|
I feel so spoiled, there are several cage shops within an hour of my location. I can't imagine having to ship the car to another country to have this done. I've been monitoring the state of road racing in Poland, since that's my country of origin and I still have friends there. I've seen several road courses pop up, so it's slowly taking hold, but it's a long way away from what we have here in the US. Here's one that I'd like to try at some point, hopefully next time I got to visit?
