John, mine now has "anti-slip" grooves. Will your's support a 44 0z margereta?

Nice photo altering skills.......someday when I'm old enough I'll try!

James, when did you say you wiped up the brake fluid with MY towel?

Glad Dennis is OK! Another reminder of why I bailed on Sunday.

I am in the exact same situation and couldn't agree more. The S2k was a blast autoXing but just too prone to snap oversteer to ever be fully relaxing on the track. Probably a great car for a pro, but not for me. Jim

Would someone please post a link to a Mid-Ohio track map with the corners numbered? All I have is the one showing concession stands & johns. Useful, but I'd like to know the turn #'s. I think I remember Jim having one in his classroom sessions.

Also, there seemed to be some confusion as to which turn is Madness.

I'll pass on the April date, but the end of August is looking good......a week after VIR. Did someone say HPDE vacation?

Re: Mid-Ohio Map
If you e-mail me so I can get your address, I'll scan in, and send you, a map. The turn no.s are confusing for 2 reasons: 1) the bus stop turns (included or not) are counted as turns 2 and 3 (so the Keyhole is turn 4) by most . 2) the back turns before Thunder Valley are 10A (double left) and 10b. Then 11 into Thunder Valley. Now, to add to the confusion, some Clubs (BMW vs Porshce, for instance) use a slightly different system. Great, Huh. It would be interesting to see what Mid-Ohio officially calls the turns. Anyway, this is why some turns are traditionally referred to by no. (turn 1, 13,15) and others are referred to by name: Keyhole, Esses, Madness, Thunder Valley(chute), and the carrousel. Jim

Steve,

Glad you could join us, but please don't SHOUT!

As for the little picture (avatar), go to the Control Panel and Edit Options. Down at the bottom is the option for selecting an avatar. I think you have to post a certain number of times before you're allowed to put up a custom avatar. At least, that's the way it used to be.

Don't forget everyone, send me your postal address, and I'll send you a CD with pix.

If you can drive an S2000 fast, you can drive anything fast. The thing I love about mine is I've never felt reflexes or road feel in any other car that are as quick and precise. The flywheel is very light, the gearshift it a rifle bolt, the damping and springs are extremely high rate for a street car, to add to that the way you can really feel and hear the car with the top down.

The S will truely punish you for incorrect weight transfer or hands that are too slow. (guess that's good or bad depending on how you look at it) The best thing about it is that it is forgiving to those with fast hands because the response is so quick. Go kart like in some respects. Great car.

Not enough torque in the low end. That's why I bought a Z instead of a Stook.

The gearing is so low that it's not really that bad... I mean sure it doesn't have the same scoot as a Vette or Pony car down low but really anything above 3k rpm around town and you have enough to squirt around. 3k sounds like a lot in any other engine but once you drive it around for a while, it feels perfectly normal. The only thing I can really see complaints about is how buzzy the car is and you really do have to use all the gears. It is a totally different experience than the Z.

Anyway, how about those pics?

Igor, thanks for sharing! Do you remember the source of the map? Per Jim, I'd guess that is Porsche Club numbering. Or is it what SCCA uses for the runoffs? Or what CART uses?

Jim, I haven't yet received your e-mail.

Jim, I got your e-mail, thanks! I now have 3 numbered maps, 2 different numbering systems.

Nate, thanks for shareing the pix!

BUT, let's see......you got a 10% discount for hanging with the 350Z's, don't you think 10% of the pix should be of the Z's?
