Here's a longshot, but... does anyone know a good paint to match the silver oem grand touring rays? 18"F 19"R etc.

Also, is that alum. putty safe to use on forged rims?

That's all well and good on a flat surface, but what if the rash is on the lip part of the wheel where you would have to contour the putty? Seems like that might be harder to get to look right. Like below.

What a great job you've made of them, this has given me confidence in having a go at mine as when i bought the car the wheels were the worst thing about it. They won't be for much longer. Thanks for a great post.

Bought mine with curb rehashed chrome rims. Is there any hope for them or should I just look for new wheels?

I've used Duplicolor VW 02039 on my '08 OEM wheels. Not perfect (the silver over black is very hard to match), but it works well on small chips. Buy the aerosol version, rather than the brush-on, because it's much thinner and can be layered on in successive coats to get the right sheen and thickness. Invest in a good proper-sized brush, too. Don't dab it on with a toothpick. That's why wheels touched up pros look better.
