Default DIY: cubby gauge pod (lots of pix)

so i have a pillar pod with 3 gauge spots but it looks to big and bulky, and my cubby doesnt get used since i took my lil navi out when i switched to a kenwood deck with built in navi so why not put them in there and have some fun with fiberglass.
i started with this

i just spent the last 45 mins holding a work light on it cause i dident add to much harderner i added 54 when i needed about 56 i thought it would give me more working time since last time i did it it was like 80 out i was only getting like 2 mins per batch and the lil harder trick worked and gave me like 6 mins. but the temp dropped so fast when it started to get dark its still tacky 3 hours later oh well i was hoping to pull it out tonight.

Looks like you have quite a project on your hand. That model year cubby is the worst! 2003 is the easiest to make gauge plates for.

My solution:

Material cost is only a couple of dollars.........you just need a cnc machine to do it.

looks like massive overkill.

One simply piece of abs can be heated and bent.. dunno.
Just my thoughts.. as I replied in my PM, from me of all people.. haha:
sometimes less is more.

I like overkill lol. And I'm already in it and the matirals are cheep enough plus it's a learning experience.

And a lil update 1st layer hardened real nice gonna do a second and 3rd layer tues then pull it out and mount the PVC drill a few holes and cut it down. And start refining it

Too Fast too Furious.... I hate pillar gauges. Cubby gauges are more tasteful.

OP is your Z your daily? I couldn't imagine the smell inside your car by doing the fiberglass work in the car.

hmmm im quite fond of backyard projects

you know you could have taken that cubby out of the car....

& you can use resin on foam.... mostly depends on the foam, but if the resin melts it then it just needs a barrier.... think brush-on latex paint.
