'03 bouncy porpoising suspension is DEAD! Thx Tein!
Hi guys and gals,
I have a Touring Daytona Blue '03. I live in LA and as those of us who live here know, some of the freeways are pretty well worn. I almost sold my Z because of the bouncy/porpoising suspension. Any one that has an '03 and has driven north on the 110 or east on the 10 around down town know what I'm talking about. The car starts to bounce in this almost wavy fashion.
I was in a motorcycle accident a few years back, had a pretty serious concussion that causes me to get motion sick very easily. Anyways, when I was driving my own Z over some of these freeways I would start getting motion sick, it was crazy.
So I picked up a set of Tein flex with edfc and had'em installed.
I cannot describe to you how much better the ride feels. The car feels very planted on the ground at any speed. Everyone that rides shotgun tells me the same thing. You can "feel" the road so much better. Having driven a few m3's and a few porsches I would say that its much more in par with those cars. The suspension is firm and you still can feel the bumps, but there is no porpoising, no bouncing.
The edfc (its a little electronic controller that control the dampening force from within the car, fyi) is pretty slick too and definitely makes the car more driveable in the sense that during normal cruising you can have them set to 0 to soak up the bumps and crank them up when you're under the gun to firm things up in a matter of seconds.
I suppose any coilovers would have done the job, I'd just like to thank Tein for letting me fall in love with my Z again!

What's up with the smiley's skank? i see them in various posts
Good to hear that the Tein created such a good ride for you, i'm thinking about those too!
But that edfc, does it also make your car higher if you want to? because we have some nasty speed bumps over here!

How far below stock does the Tein Flex lower the Z, or do you get a pretty wide range that you can choose?
