Hey there...Brian at 350zonlinestore is a great guy and told me he would match any price i could find for the hotchkis sways online. Has anyone seen them or know where to get them cheaper? He told me $325.00 shipped. Not bad but i thought ive seen them for like 2 something and shipping cant be that much.
McMaster-Carr sells collars you can put on the sways to keep them from sliding back and forth creating some noise. Someone posted part #'s in one of the threads. Costs ~$15 for the 4 collars.
Most sways have the collar "built In". The sway bar is held in by a greased rubber mount. With movement the rubber mount will eventually dry out and you'll have metal on rubber which can squeak. The front sway comes with a grease nipple so you can lubricate this from time to time, but you can probably reduce the amount of times with the collars.
Heres a picture of the stock vs. hotchkiss sway. You can see the silver collars on the red bar are the ones I've added. On the stock black bar, the silver collar is a permanent piece.
I did not have any clunking until I installed the collars. Now I have clunking with the collars.
You might need to adjust the collars. If there's a gap between them and the sway bracket you'll get a clunk on some bumps and corners. I put mine on before I installed them, then adjusted them once things were hooked up.
In the earlier thread I read, people were mentioning a squeak coming from the bar and that was from the bar slipping, which is what the collar is meant to prevent.
Hrm, so after reading that... for somebody that is just going to have these installed on their daily driver in a dry climate, getting the collars probably isn't a big deal as long as they are regreased every year (as hotchkis recommends), right?
