Default Drilling holes in the rear to adjust D-specs?

I've heard of it being done, but I've never seen any pictures. Exactly where should you drill to get the adjustment tool into the top of the shock?

i want to do it too, just havent gotten around to it.

basically you lift up the plastic cover panels on the rear strut brace. once thats done, you can see through a dime sized hole the adjustment spot. i guess you just drill right above it and put hte plastic back on.

Sorry to go off topic, but I got a question about the tokicos. I installed them on my 04 about a month ago with tein s.tech springs.

I know how to adjust the fronts, but how do you do the rear shocks?
My tech installed them but didn't see any way to adjust the rears. Is their something covering it that blinds him from seeing it? Thanks

they adjust the exact same way as the front, dunno what your tech was talking about. Maybe he was trying to say there's no way to adjust them without pulling them off the car?

When you take off the rear plastic panels on the strut brace, you will see a hole alrealy above each shock. Its about 1" in diameter, maybe a bit smaller. If you shine a light down that hole you will see the top of your shock and get a good ideal of where you need to drill.

I put the shocks in today, and I TRIED to drill holes... it ate a titanium drill bit!! So the rear shocks are set to four right now, I figure I can increase/decrease the front rates as needed to keep things balanced until I get some sort of massive drill-tron.

In other news, I need to start doing more research before I go to install parts. A 2 hour job took me 5, because it took at least an hour and a half to figure out how to get the first shock off from either end of the car, then 30 minutes to do the next one.

why drill a hole. you can reach up without jacking the car and undo the 2 12mm bolts, pull the shock down and adjust it without a hassle.

why jack the corner up, take the wheel off, take the two bolts off, pull the shock down, and adjust it, then do the reverse, when I could just pop off an interior panel and adjust it through the hole? I see what you're saying, but the pain of drilling those holes would be a lot less, in the long run, than adjusting the shocks the other way.

I did the same kinda thing for my G using the Tokico extensions. I put a short DIY on G35 driver - not sure how much of this applies to you Z guys, but here it is with some pictures: http://g35driver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86676

Wow, that's pretty slick mike. The extensions would work on a 350, but I just want to use a longer allen wrench to adjust them. The problem is that I need something big enough to get my fingers down in and get the dust cover off. Probabally an inch or so in diameter. I just need to find some really, really strong drill bits (and a drill) to do it.

You don't have to take the wheel off.

Do the extensions come with the shocks or are they extra? What do they cost and where can you get them? Thanks

I know they didn't come with mine.

Westpak, how the heck do you get your hands up there to get the shock unbolted without taking the wheel off?? You must have some very flexible hands.

I think I paid around $30 for them...

LOL I usually just jack the car up by the differential enough for the tires to almost leave the ground and that gives me enough room to get in there, the tough part is if you have it on a stiff setting trying to pull the shock down,

One of the main reasons I've leaned Koni over these is the rear adjustibility. If this is easy to do, I may get these. I'm subscribing for the future. Hopefully somebody can post a how to so I can see if it is something I want to tackle.
