Default I need a favor...

I'm looking into getting eighter the Tein Flex or the Tein CS. I won't really be tracking my and if I do it will be a once a year thing....so I want to see the difference between flex and cs. My Q is can anyone take me for a ride in the Flex on the softest setting and hardest just so I can feel how harsh it is; and also is there anyway someone can do the same with the CS? I don't need a long driver just a 5-10min thing. I'm willing to pay for the persons gas so if you’re willing let me know please.

Have you posted in the so cal forums?

I could have been in your shoe's, but after reading review's for both and from talking to a Tein tech at length I came to this. The CS is too soft even at it's firmest settings and would be supper expensive to revalve for my needs. Yet the flex is too harsh even at it's softest settings. And I'm not willing to wait 8-10 weeks for the softer JDM flex setup to come by boat from Japan.

In any event, getting a test drive is a great idea, everyone is different and maybe what you read in the review's on here you didn't see what I did.

Tein Flex (twin tube construction, adjustable dampners
Full-length adjustment and height adjustment for separate setting of the height and spring preload
Spring rates 672/672
Stiffer then oem by F+114% R+98 (vs 03/04, 04.5+ car's have stiffer rear oem springs so vs those car's the rear numbers will differ).
Side Note: Extremely high spring rates mean even when the adjustable damping is set as low as possible, you may not find ride quality happiness, several reports of this setups harshness exist Yet a few owner comment’s of a “like stock ride quality” also exist. However given the fact that they use a spring stiffness that’s over 100% stiffer then oem, if ride quality is of concern, either hitch a ride in a car equipped with them or make a different choice. In addition, several review’s have been done by people actually having the original more softly sprung Tein Flex coilovers do not take their comments to mean the same as the one using the current product, the original product specs are listed below under Tein Flex JDM.

Tein Flex JDM specs (can be special ordered est 10-12 weeks delivery)
Full-length adjustment and height adjustment for separate setting of the height and spring preload
Spring rates 560/560
Stiffer then oem by F+78% R+64% (vs 03/04, 04.5+ car's have stiffer rear oem springs so vs those car's the rear numbers will differ).
Side Note: This is the original specs first offered in the U.S. with the Flex, shortly after it’s introduction the specs changed to those listed further above (672/672)

Tein CS (Monotube constructionad, adjustable dampners )
Special Note: A comfort ride system compare to HKS LS.They are valved and sprung to fulfill their intended mission of offering up improved ride comfort. More specifically their valving will impact the performance they can deliver. And to add, revalving them is extremely expensive if you find they are too soft for you. If you want performance, pick a different Tein offering or pick a different brand.
Spring rates 392/392
Stiffer then oem by F+25% R15% (vs 03/04, 04.5+ car's have stiffer rear oem springs so vs those car's the rear numbers will differ).

Any authorized Tein dealer can get them for you. They will cost them the exact same amount as getting a usdm flex, so their is still the same usual incentive to find dealer with a good price. What happen's is, you pay the dealer who then in turn contact Tein and places the order. The biggest catch will be when Tein places a order from Japan, once that order is placed then your waiting for the boat to come from Japan to here.

Here's Tein's phone number in case you call a dealer and they try and tell you you can't order them. 1-562-861-9161 You might want to call them to get a idea of how long the wait will be on the boat.
