Lowering my car - what do you recommend? Pics
Hi, I recently got Axis 19x9.5 installed in my rear, and I now have a whell gap because I got low profile tires.
I would like to lower my car by changing the springs. I've been looking at either Tein (.6 inch rear drop) or Tanabe (1.2 inch rear drop) .
I'm leaning towards the Tanabe's because I think the gap is big, but will such a drop mess up my cambers? What do you guys think I should get and why?

anyway, about the lowering, i would say go with the Tanabe's if you can get the camber/toe kit. i wouldn't want to have to replace those tires too much, cha ching!

Man there's no way that the OD of your low-profile tires on 19's is even close to the OD of the stock tires on 18's. Your wheel/tire is the final gear in your drive train so you want to make sure the OD (outer diameter) as as close to the stock tires as possible. The stock rear tires are 245/45/18, which has theoretically 26.68" OD. A decent option for a 19" wheel might be 265/35/19 which has about 26.3" OD. Even closer is 275/35/19 which has 26.58" OD.
Going with one of those options would make your final drive gear ratio as close as possible to stock, and it would keep your speedometer/odometer/gas milage as accurate as possible.
Also, what year is your Z? I have a 2006 with stock wheels, tires, and suspension, and just the other day I was looking at a friend's Z (2004 I think...definitely not a 2006) and he has 19" wheels with 275/35/19 rubber on the rears. He was running stock suspension and his wheel gap did not look bad at all in the rear. I was pretty surprised, because technically his tires have a smaller OD than my stock tires, yet his fender gap appeared to be smaller than mine. I make this comment because yours seems to be huge in that picture, so if you have a 2006 and you are running one of the tire sizes I mentioned above then I would conclude that the 2006 suspension is more jacked up in the rear than the previous years....even though I did not hear any reports of suspension setup change for 2006.
