Default Springs vs. Coilovers

Which is more worthwhile.. Springs, being that they are relatively cheap, or going the extra mile onto coilovers? Taking into consideration ride height and overall performance of course!

If you are not going to track I don't see spending the money to get a coilover set. For dd springs and maybe an upgrade on your shocks should be fine.

Who has had driving experience on both spring sets and coilovers on their Z's or someone elses?

well, the extra cash is worthwhile for coilovers. why? some reasons are of course because of the height adjustment. you'll always encounter spots where you just can't clear. it's good to have a quick fix for this. stock shocks are good for only so long. with the coilover, it's already tuned/matched to the springs so you'll be able to run them a lot longer than springs over oems. however, as others mentioned, you can purchase aftermarket shocks to go along with the springs. the pricing can exceed a normal coilover though.

what are you planning to do with the z? regular driving with the occassional spirited driving, track, race??

Yea, mostly street driving. Turbo it and then run it at the track, put down some quarter times and then back to the street... Which is why im leaning towards a spring set, or perhaps the tein basics

IMHO, unless you're competing at the upper levels of autocross or amateur racing, coil overs won't give you anything over Nismo's T2 race spring and shock setup. In most cases, there are very, very few drivers skilled enough to need something more then the T2 suspension.

Hahaha, Ummm, I have. A lot of daily driving and a lot of track days with both coilovers, and spring / shock combonation.

neither. go with Stance Coilovers instead. very good overall purchase. you will not be upset. cheaper than Teins, better imo, and they're monotube. yes, the new Flex's are monotube as well, but more expensive, and have less height adjustments.

For a I think around the same price or a little lower than the Tein their are the Tanabe Coilovers. The Sevens they have are priced higher than the Tein Basics, but the S-OCs are priced comparable, if not less expensive. If you go with springs, there are going to be more than a couple of times your gonna wish you could lower the car a little bit more, or raise it a little bit more, coilovers in general are well worth it!
