Check it out-new SPL Parts Camber/Caster Arms

Info can be found here
We adjusted these down to -4 degrees camber on the alignment rack and over a degree positive caster to test the range. My car is lowered approximately one inch. I've done one track event at Motorsports Ranch during ZCON and am heading to Texas Motor Speedway tomorrow night for another event running the roval. I did several track events on the first prototype set that is the same basic design but without the double adjuster for camber. I've currently got it set to -3 camber in the front and a little over -2 in the rear(stock arms) and the car handles great. Camber and caster adjustments can be made on the alignment rack.
I just installed one of their 13lb carbon fiber race seats and will be trying that out on the track tomorrow also. Will be nice to not have to brace myself with my knees in every turn!

F- Yeah!
For better or worse, I just bought a set.
I hate buying parts that are new to the market because somtimes they don't always have all the kinks worked out yet (EX: X-box 360).
But hell I bought an 03' Z so why not buy the first batch of the A-arms off the production line!
I have faith in them though...can't wait to get them in!

I'm thinking of getting a set of these.
Have you installed these yet? How do you like them? Was the camber adjustment as wide as they said? Has anyone else bought these yet?
Thanks for any input.

The rear adjustable link in development looks exciting. I could definately see buying both at a package deal when it becomes available. Thanks for posting the new info, I'll keep my eye on their site.

I couldn't pass it up. As long as they hold up (and I have absoultely no reason to think they wouldn't).....I don't know why anyone would buy anything else.
But then again, I don't seem to know much....

Most importantly SPL uses a threaded adjuster, not a sliding plate that relies on friction between 2 plates tightened together to hold its setting. I would never use a sliding plate design again after seeing the number of Stillen and Noltec arms for the 300ZX slipping in use. I swapped my Notlec slip box arms on my personal 300zx after only a few months use and went with an SPL designed threaded adjuster.
I have been using the new 350z SPL arms for several months now and used Hoosier slicks at the last track event (Zcon) and the arms held up perfectly. I would not have been so confident in any other design. The threaded adjuster is also easier to set back and forth for track/street use than people think, I just measure the length of the threads or count the turns and can quickly and accurately dial in extra camber for the track. The caster adjustment is independent of the camber adjustment so caster is not affected when I change camber for the track. I don’t know the specific adjustment mechanism of the SPC arms but it looks like it has just one locking nut for both camber and caster plus the spacers, so it will be difficult to keep caster fixed if you want to just quickly adjust camber at the track…
The SPC design looks fine for street use, but for any motorsports use, like 21112 said, I don’t see why anyone would buy anything else…

This looks like a great product. I'd love to hear back from someone that has purchased the SPL production arms and installed them all ready.
21112, did you get yours installed yet? Did the alignment technician have any trouble adjusting the alignment with them?
Why are there three nuts on the heim joint that connects to the spindle?
I assume these arms are strong enough for a G35 too?

Nope.
Car is still in the bodyshop... and it's still waiting for windows, and front and rear bumpers no less.
Then it's off to Nissan for the fuel hose recall.
Then I can put the new suspension on.
I'll be lucky if I can get the suspension done before 07', but it isn't looking that way...

Yes, these are for the G35 also.
The three nuts are 2 jam/lock nuts and one for the threaded adjuster.

It's a bit tight on my lower ribs on long drives as I guess my lower back is a bit too wide. On the track it's great though. For the first time the sides of my knees weren't all bruised from holding myself in place in the turns. The seat even without a harness held me in place. Not to mention it's only 13 lbs!
I drove 9 hours to Hallett and back and was surprised how comfortable it was. I used a piece of foam on the seat back for the drive but took it out when on the track. You can also get purpose made cushions (velcro i think) that are made for most race seats that you could use if needed. I just happenned to have some foam lying around so used it.
I'll try to get some pics of the install this weekend. I'm heading to Dallas for an event at Texas Motor Speedway and I'll bring the camera.
You are going to love the race seats over the stock seats! You will be blown away about how much slower you actually feel, but you are going a whole h*ll of a lot faster! One thing that took the longest time for me, was to get use to all the feedback you get though your a** and your back from the car. Yet, once you learn to use that feedback, you can start going a whole heck of a lot faster!

I am looking at a set of arms. Are the spherical bearings noisy for everyday use? What is your honest feedback on the amount of noise, rattle , metal to metal contact you get over rubber bushings.
Thanks
Jeff
