Default What kind of springs....

I'm looking to purchase some lowering springs for my boyfriends 350z for christmas...just curious what kind everyone would recommend I get for him or what your personal preference is on brands. Any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated!

I agree with all the above, but I'd liked to add Hotchkis. For this is what I have. Not the biggest drop. But still very nice looking. You can get these with sway bars for $400. Which they work well together. I don't think I've heard any real bad things about any springs, Just depends how far of a drop you want.

Pretty sure he wants to lower it somewhere around 1.25-2inches. I think Tein only allows you to lower it 1inch... correct?

That would be correct. But I don't know what the Tanabe is though.

Get the Tanabe NF210 they lower the car 1.2 all around. Tanabe GF210 lower the car fronts 1.0 and rears 1.2.

Depends on how much of a drop you want. General concensus:
medium drop: Eibach S techs
Bigger drop: H&R
Huge drop: Tanabe GF210
Anything bigger: coilovers.
If I was your boyfriend, i'd ask for S tech's since they are nearly perfect in terms of driveability and quality and looks.

If he wants it that low, you might need some equipment to correct alignment. I'd suggest to stick w/ the S techs since they keep it within stock specs.
Call them up. Most places are really flexible w/ the cost of springs.

I wouldnt pay more than 160 for these new, so make sure to ask.

My friendly advise -- get him the Tein S springs. He does not have to replace the shocks nor get his front end adjusted. Any other springs, he'll have to replace his shocks and have the front end adjusted. Just trying to save you $$$s and headaches you may otherwise unknowingly encounter. Or should I say, he'll have to deal with.

I don't agree with shock replacement, but going with S-tech's does avoid the issues associated with dropping past .8".

While I happen to have some tein s techs and D specs I am about to install, I would recommend a gift certificate to one of the sponsors sites, maybe with a picture of a set of springs.

It may not be as cool but spring choices are many and as you can see from the few that have posted here, most have a different opinion about what is "Best" because best is not only subjective, your choice needs to fit the driving style and usage.

One interesting note, the link in plumpzz post to the Z store shows S Techs with a 1.5" drop while everything else I have read, including Tein's own site, shows them with a .7" Front/ .6" Rear drop. ( http://www.tein.com/stech.html )

Yeah they're probably wrong. I like them cause they have most of the stuff cheap as hell. Like their tokiko springs/dampeners kit. 600 for springs AND shocks.

+1 for a gift card. You can get a low drop that will ride stiff, or you can get a low soft(er) ride. Depends on what he wants.

get Tanabe GF210 instead of eibach's, theyre just of much better quality and a lot of ppl here will say the same. 1" front, 1.2" rear is the perfect and best looking drop imo, going lower will look worse. make sure he gets his car aligned after the springs settle. whether or not he'll need a camber kit is up to his luck.

and forget tein coz not only is the drop too mild for ur bf, it lowers more in the front than back, which is stupid. i havent heard of any other springs that do that. i'd take hotchkis springs over tein any day.
