Not necessarily. The IRS has some very specific qualifications regarding who is an independent contractor vs. an employee. Note: bold text.

It is critical that you, the employer, correctly determine whether the individuals providing services are employees or independent contractors. Generally, you must withhold income taxes, withhold and pay Social Security and Medicare taxes, and pay unemployment tax on wages paid to an employee. You do not generally have to withhold or pay any taxes on payments to independent contractors.

Caution: If you incorrectly classify an employee as an independent contractor, you can be held liable for employment taxes for that worker, plus a penalty.

Who is an Independent Contractor?
A general rule is that you, the payer, have the right to control or direct only the result of the work done by an independent contractor, and not the means and methods of accomplishing the result.

Who is an Employee?
A general rule is that anyone who performs services for you is your employee if you can control what will be done and how it will be done.

Yep that is true. I think I know the reason why too.

An employer must withhold employment taxes from an employee's paycheck to pay for SS, withholding etc. The amount comes to around 7.65% I believe. The employer is also liable for the other half of those taxes of the same amount. So they have to pay the wages, do the withholding, and then pay the other 7.65% out of their own pocket. It appears they were 1099ing all the employees in an effort to make them appear as independant contractors who were self employed. This way, they didn't have to pay the employment taxes (saving 7.65%) and the employee is now required to pay the whole 15.3% as SELF-employment taxes. So it looks like the employees were being screwed. I hope they don't get an audit.

The "True" coilovers by VRT are made by some company in China/Taiwan. I bought these and eventually went back to stock cos the rear couldnt be adjusted. No point in having just front being able to adjust then car wouldnt be even

They are re-badged Stance units. He went into detail about his upcoming suspension based on Stance coli-overs in another thread on the Stance 3-way set-up, in the appropriate forum.
