Default Parking brake... how many clicks to engagement?

I'm asking this because I have an AEM nav unit that disables a bunch of functions unless you have the parking brake up. The trigger is attached to the parking brake wire that runs up to the parking brake light on the dash so it doesn't have to be all the way up. I was thinking about just driving around with the parking brake at one click when I want to use those functions, will that cause any problems?

Is it a little older unit? if so then you can prob just ground the parking brake wire so that the unit thinks the parking brake is on all the time. Then just use it when you need to. If its newer then a 2 wire bypass may be needed. Little more to it but still reletivley easy.

Or just wire a toggle switch in series. I had an Alpine that required holding the brake and pumping the parking brake three times in order to play DVD's. Toggle switch worked great.
