Stop Tech Rear BBK. 2 Pot/Cross Drilled. Installed. Lots of Pics....

I finally bit the bullet and completed my BBK for the entire car. Up front I'm running 14 inch 4 Pot Stop Techs. For the rear I decided to go with 13 inch 2 Pot. I really wasn't planning on making the purchase until 2008, but couldn't pass on a deal PaulGT2 made me:

I started early Saturday morning and made sure to take my time. The install went pretty well. There were no real surprises or fittment issues at all.

Here's a few pictures of the rear lifted and disassemble process.

Here's the rear OEM rotor compared to the new one. The new rears are 332 x 28mm...

Next step was cutting the dust shield off. At first I tried cutting it off with a cutting wheel on my die grinder, but this was taking too long. I went with the back up plan. Used tin snips instead. This proved to be the better method. After wards I used a grinding stone on the die grinder to clean up the jagged edges.

After you trim the dust shield, you'll find that the caliper adapter won't line up properly. This was a simple fix. All you have to do is use a flathead screw driver to bend the dust shield outboard.

Note: only bend it foward at the point it makes contact with the caliper bracket. Leave the rest of the dust shield alone or it'll rub on the rotor.

After all the ground work is laid, you can begin installing all the new hardware.

yea paul has amazing prices. I bought a stoptech 6-pot 14" front for $100 more than another vendor quoted me for the 13" 4-pot

+1. I went to my normal vendor 1st, but Paul still under bid him. Another vendor I went to for a price quote, quoted me something rediculously high, like $2,400. I didn't pay that much for my fronts.

I took a chance on this new vendor, Paul, and was well worth it. I will definitely do business with him in the future...

Paul = best prices ever! Ordered my 6-pot kit for considerably less than any other vendor.

Looks nice, but you should have gotten slotted or just blanks since now you will have worse surface area for braking. Meaning, more heat, and more chance of cracking. :(

I'm thinking Stoptech BBK (or any major name brand BBK) won't crack... It's the oem-size no-name chinese blanks (that get crossed drilled) I'd be worried about...

Very very nice VO!! I'm envious of your BBK!! :-)

I agree on slotted rotors being less likely to crack. I have no plans on actually tracking the vehicle. It's all for show.:o

Actually any crossdrilled rotor will crack. Just depends how much heat Porsche crossdrilled rotors crack. But less surface area the more chance they have to cracking.

Haha I wish bro! My rear wheels are 19x11+17 with an 0-disk (deep dish) and I'm running 285s with a -1.5" drop. I don't think I can get any clearance. I think I'll just keep with OE brembos in the back

I think the front 4 piston stoptechs should clear, I'm running R disk fronts - I really want to save up for a set of those fronts, looks nasty! :D...in a good way haha.

PS Wish you were closer I'd ask to see if we could test fit my rear wheels on your car ad see if it would clear?
