adjustable suspension question
Hey everyone, I have started college and since will be making frequent trips between home and campus, about a 250mile trek each way. The roads are pretty bad between the two, so I've been looking at getting some adjustable suspension so I can set it really really soft when needing to take these trips. I do have a few questions... How do you adjust them? Is there a module or do you have to remove wheels and get tools out? Will this significantly decrease the road harshness? Thanks.
wren,
I have the JIC 15 way adjustable coilovers. On these, you just have to use a simple allen wrench to adjust to the desired level. To access the front adjustment, you simply pop the hood and make the adjustments on the top of the strut opening where the coilover stiks out. Its very very easy on the front, you can actually adjust it with with your fingers.
One the rear, the top of the struts are located inside the rear strut bar housing that runs in the trunk. I simply popped the plastic off and located the adjustment and drilled small holes to allow adjustment using the long end of an allen wrench. I would drill a hole about 3/8" or so on each side, that way its easy to access.
Hope that helps, I'd highly recommend adjustable for your situation if your funding provides.

You can only adjust the dampers so yes the ride will be less harsh, but the springs will be the same rate so you'll get more bounce/float. No harm as long as you don't have bumps that hit the jounce bumpers.
