I purchased my 03 350z about 6 months ago and having been a 5 time z32 owner and having very little experience with z33's i am still getting antiquated with the mod process. I just upgraded the wheels which was #1 on my list. It seems as though my next upgrade should be lowering of the vehicle but the car seems to sit particularly low already (still stock suspension)....the rear wheel gap is roughly 1.25 inches from the fender to the apex of the tire and most lowering springs seem to provide about a 1" to 1.25" drop....seeing as how the wheels are an aggressive fitment I don't want to be rubbing every time i hit a bump but everyone seems to comment that the Z must be lowered after adding wheels...any tips/advice on how to proceed would be outstanding.

Lowering is almost a must after adding rims and tires. I went with Eibach prokits which gave me a 1" drop. I am running 20" with a 275/30/20 and I had to have my rear fenders cut. Since then I have not had any issues.

What you also gotta take into consideratin is camber. If your gap is 1.5 inches wide and you drop 1.5 inches, you most likly wont rub because of camber and the top of the wheel being pushed in, UNLESS you have serious aggressive wheels. but in that case, you will want to stretch your tires and add just a little more camber
