Default Crossed drilled/slotted rotors question

I recently came back from a g/z meet at Function: Tuned that was held for most of sunday, and MAN! were the number of cars unbelievable! The hard work and ingenuity some people have seems phenomenal. Long story short, I saw MANY z's and g's that had the brembo brake calipers...but cross drilled and slotted rotors. Now my question is this, could i get cross drilled and slotted rotors, yet keep my factory brembos on my nismo? I don't track my car, so I am aware of the disadvantages that may have. I don't drive like an idiot and slam on the brakes just for the hell of it or see how they function. I liked the way they look, they looked more sporty, and im sure my daily driving braking abilities wont be sacrificed. I found rotors that are cross drilled and slotted on the z store.com, and they make the rotors specific to the track model w/ brembos, which I am assuming is the factory brembos that come on the track and nismo from the factory, correct? Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

That is correct. If the rotors say they are for the Brembos, they are for the brembos.

I would get slotted only. They are supposedly less prone to cracking.

Yes if you have to get anything, get slotted. As they won't break like this:

dayum. definitely wouldnt want that. I mean, my dads c6 vette has the cross drilled rotors from the factory and they seem to stop incredibly hard and have not developed any stress cracks or anything whatsoever. Im not tracking my car, i dont intend to because i feel that im more of the conservative street driver who has spirited driving here and there. Don't get me wrong, slotted rotors look good, but for me, the cross drilled, imo, seals the deal for me. Again, i do not intend to drive any "harder" than I do now, which is basically everyday driving, with the occasional hard stop or two from people who slam on the brakes in front of me.

I was thinking about getting Stoptech drilled for my non-brembo.

Those seem to be good quality and great price.

well i went ahead and ordered Brembo sport rotors cross drilled and slotted for my factory Nismo brembos. they cost alot, almost 920 for all four, but I think i feel safer with a better brand than something else I do not know about.

drilled should be ok for street use, but I'd avoid if it's gonna be facing any track usage. There's already quite a few threads on this. Read here for some additional info:

ya ive read all the crap about the cracking and less area for heat dissapation therefore worse than stock and all that. Bottom line if you like the look and you dont track go for it and they should hold up fine....

Just go with a good brand at least. R1 Concepts "premium" line seem decent as they use same rotor supplier as Stoptech, and you can get them alittle cheaper and in cross drilled/and slotted. Stoptech only offers drilled or slotted but imo thats better as neither is good and one or the other is better than both.

that looks bad, but would you be so kind and tell us what kind of rotor was this ?

it looks like a total ebay pos . i agree that drilled is not preferred for track, yet i don't think that a good quality rotor would crack simply because it is drilled.

now i would say that mb, porsche, ferrari , lambo - come with the drilled rotors, but i will say more, all rotors crack one way or another.

I actually don't know. It was another club member. Next time I talk to them I will ask. He wouldn't buy ebay crap. I know him better than that.

i do not deny the fact that drilled rotors are more prone to cracks..

but however.. brake pads does cause that too..

using unsuitable pads for the rotors are BAD..

e.g using hard ceramic compund pads on steel rotors..

I bought my z with drilled/slotted rotors on it almost 1.5 years ago, i have no idea what kind they are, but i would assume cheap ones. They have been fine thus far!

got my rotors installed!!! only took 45 minutes at Roy Hendricks auto shop...yes the kin to Hendricks motorsports Fantastic people!
I will post pics up tomorow (it rained today). The rotors look amazing, and they are an improvement over stock. I have an 08 Nismo, and they look very good with the brembo calipers. FYI, the rotors are brembos themselves as well, cross drilled and slotted. Again, pics to come tomorow!
