I'm contemplating buying a used rack... I know a brand new OEM is just $440 off courtesyparts.com but i'm really tight on cash. I'm going to call around tomorrow to some junkyards I found through LQK to have a 350Z rack & pinion and see if I can get a good deal on a good part.

A risk... yes, although so is the junkyard ones really. I dunno... What do you guys think? or ?

BTW I'm replacing mine because of some play in the rack due to a front-end wreck 2 summers ago.

 

I would try it after all it is oem. The worst it could be is defective

 

The seller responded and said the car was in a front-end collision. But I found one with supposedly only 12K miles on it from a 2005 Z at a salvage yard in Oregon, the car was rear-ended so the rack should be nearly perfect. So i'm ordering that instead... plus its cheaper.

We'll see how it performs... hope it isn't too hard to install!
