Glad to hear your doing it yourself, built, not bought is so much cooler.

Go to your region area and see if there's someone within your area that could do it for you for a better price is another option as well.

...or ask gregtotheb to show you around since he knows everybody. He wouldn't pay over $300.

OP, I did my own HKS Hypermax III install myself. It was a fun project. It look me a while to complete the work because I never did it before. I bought the tools and I believe it was $100 or less for everything (unless you need a jack/jackstands). Only downside is once you get that stuff installed you need to take it to a shop and get an alignment.

I dunno. Maybe somewhere between 500-750. Does this $750 install include alignment? If it does, that's a really good deal imo.

OP, ask @ your regions area and see if someone would mind lending you a hand. Here in GA, we look out for our brothers and are always there to help. It might cost you a 12 pack, but you will meet some cool cats and gain alot of knowledge. GL bro

not to hijack but my question is along the same lines guys ... i was quoted $525 minimum for a simple set of springs and sway bars installation. i'm thinking that sounds ridiculously high. i installed a Motordyne MREV2 and plenum spacer 2-3 weeks ago without any problems whatsoever... is this also something i'd be able to do myself with the proper tools and ample amount of time?

thx

how do you feel about the $525 quote i was given? high? they also quoted something like $300-400 for the plenum work which wasn't hard or time consuming at all. i'm no tim the toolman taylor but i can certainly find my way around the garage if it'll save me $500!

i do a fair amount of side work, and go with book labor times(although there are no book times for setting ride height on a set of coilovers, or most other aftermarket parts) at $40/hr.

at that rate, i would charge around $3-400 for the work quoted. so for a shop to charge $750 is not that out of wack considering the door rate of most shops are double my rate.

its always cheaper to diy, unless you screw something up and have to have a shop fix it.

I've dropped the exhaust/cats from the car in under 30 minutes. The cats really aren't that big of a deal. Just unbolt the Y-pipe from the rest of the exhaust to give you some extra play to get the cats unhooked and out.

and remember... patience is a virtue, and you'll probably skin a knuckle or three
extensions to unbolt the cats from the header from the top the front of the car just gotta remove intakes though
