Instead of making a new thread i'll post in here and hopefully someone can chime in and tell me if it's related or not.

I recently got the SPL solid diff bushings installed and i'm hearing like a humming noise (kinda like wheel bearings on other cars) only when you press on the gas. It's hard to explain but if you let off the gas the noise stops.

Yea mine does that too, must just be the gear noise being amplified since everyones seems to do it.

It is normal.

But because the process of installing diff bushings requires removing the diff, it's easy for people to suspect that something might have been done incorrectly during the reinstallation.

Think about it, if solid diff bushings do not produce any noises compared to stock rubber bushings, car makers would be using solid diff bushings in leiu of rubber.

Default NVH

I am planning to go for the solid diff setup with SPL kit. I expect some NVH. But is it unbearable noisy or it can be drowned by a loud exhaust note, stripped out rear hatch noise or music.

Does anyone here also have SPL suspension bushes? If so is there any significant NVH compared to urethane or oem for that matter if at all? I would expect some but just want to know it is not going to annoy me all the time or dominate all other things. If significant NVH can it be remedied with grease etc?

If you only get the large one to replace the worn oem one, and not the other two that mount to the diff you should be ok. I read that those two are the major isolators in the three.

i got mines installed today, sound is barely noticeable, exhaust sound definately overs that up. anyways, excited and pleased with the upgrade, car definately handles and launch better. got mines done for $180 plus $170SPL bushings, since i did a muffler delete few months ago there was no point on dropping the subframe which saved me a couple hundred bucks...plus my mechanic didnt even use the driver tool provided. dont let shops scam us for labor cost is my point. lol

Hello everyone. I've had my solid diff bushings now for about 3 months so I figured I'd give a lil review/my opinion. I installed these along with a quaife and everything felt tight and solid for about 2 months. But, just recently I've started getting wheel hop again. The most logical explanation is that my sub-frame bushings are now getting extra wear and are starting to get spongy. So needless to say I'll be ordering some solid subframe bushings in the coming months. So my suggestion would be to do all the bushings while your under there. I thought my sub frame bushings would be ok for a while since I only had 15k on the car at time of install but they're obviously failing quickly. Plus, its easier to do them all at once since u have the rear dropped, exhaust off etc anyway. Now I gotta do that all over again to do the subframes. But all in all I love the solid diff bushings. They helped with traction and power delivery a lot.

If you replace all the bushings with solid, what is the force being absorbed by now? Won't you eventually bend / warp your frame or something similar?

Good point. Ive seen threads where someone cracked their subframe. I wonder if solid bushings add additional stress.

At 15k I would be extremely surprised to see those subframe bushings go just because of a more locking diff and spl subframe bushings. Unless you actually pull those out and there is noticable wear visible I'm just not a believer.

BTW I have SPL diff bushings, SPL knuckle bushings, and some 10 different Nismo bushings in the rear. I def. noticed the extra whine from the dif immediately after the SPL bushings, so yea, way normal to hear it.

Hi all,

I'm ordering the whiteline subframe bushes and also the spl solid diff, after reading about the noises I'm a bit concerned about the spl's. I have a nismo 2 way lsd. The last thing I need as a weekender and occassional track is wooo wooo, has this issue beeb sorted out?

If you just replace the large oem bush with the spl then you might get the driveshaft wobbling which can't be any good, even if u put the whitelines in the pumpkin and do a diff brace, won't that wobble the driveshaft under load, jasonZ mentioned all this. Any feedback is appreciated as my order is almost confirmed. So has anyone done this spl solid diff with whiteline subframes and not had noise with a nismo lsd? I'm also getting the spl mid links, traction arm, camber arm, spl shock mounts for the rear.... Any advice for a quiet install, yea lube and greese em will be done monthly

Thanks in advanceddd.

I installed my spl solid dif bushings and it does woo woo a lil bit but nothing to crazy. It's def worth the advantage. It's not to bad man. May be a lil worse with the 2way but I don't see it getting obnoxiously annoying. Hope I could help man. Good luck

Thanks for the replies, am going ahead with the sp solid diff bushings, will put some dyno mat down, rhe issue issue I'm trying to address is the wheel alignment and contact patch of the tyre on hard launches, from the wear on my 325 cups at the back all the bush deflection means I'm only using about 225 of the tyre. Cheers for th advice, next to follow will be the bc Coilovers.

Cheers for the input

Think about it, you went from a big spongey rubber bushing with rubber washers to solid aluminum ones, all of the noise from the differential is now resonating into the subframe, it will make noise! You are 100% safe
