Coilover suggestions?
That's physically impossible but for the sake of you being right on the internet, I'll just assume it to be true.
Soooo, that would be different, right? Look, the two of you have been here longer and probably have more experience, so I'll just concede.
You both are right.

My car is actually raced, not going from car show to car show at 3mph swerving to miss a 1" crease in the road. It also does not go around doing the auto equivalent of ice skating (drifting).
Congrats on your race car and your 15k mac toolbox that most people don't have. I also appreciate the suggestions of things that won't actually DO what the OP asked the coils to do before the threads were merged.
Now, maybe you're attacking me because you don't like what my screen name implies I do. Maybe you're attacking me because I offered an alternative product that you don't personally like. I'm sure in the back of YOUR mind, you're probably like "who is this guy who rides around all hellaflush stanced drifting his car in parking lots and avoiding speed bumps with his crappy parts..I'll show him. He's ruining the community with his wheels sticking out past his tires and his chewed up fenders". I don't know. I mean, it's cool and all. You're a mod, you're clearly a knowledgeable track guy. And I get all that. But, based on the question this guy asked..well...both questions now...do you think EITHER of them a) are going to spend what YOU would spend b) have the tools and know-how that YOU have? I mean, c'mon. You can't save everybody. JS.

Where does 15k come in? I have a $200 impact gun and a small toolbox.
I guess I don't understand why you need to be a master mechanic to do 4 bolts vs 3 (+1 more if you include the top mount, which I never remove since the spring is separate).
He should find a used set of koni yellows and OTS springs and be done with it...

For that budget, just get some lowering springs. If you're set on coilovers, just get some (I never thought I'd say this ...) Megan or Godspeed coilovers. But please don't. Save a little more and get some KW, Tein, etc.
Im not looking the slam my car to the ground, just so the finder covers about half the tire. Im getting 19s soon so i want to drop the Z aswell. I dont do track, sometimes the occasional drift here and there but mainly street use. My budget is around $600(i can pay more if they are worth it) I would also like a smooth ride.
Thanks~
Thanks~

Maybe Fortune Auto, BC or Stance would be the cheapest coilovers I would run. They are pretty reliable. I wouldn't settle with anything lower than those.. Megan, KSport, Godspeed, Ebay stuff might just break/leak on your first motorsport event. Buddy of mine said his mate's KSport started leaking on his second track day lol (KSport BBK however is a different story).
I was patient enough to save up for a set of KW's.

Fortunes won't slam your Z. I have the newest model gen 4 500 series by them and I'm on 18's with 275/40 rear tires, and I'm bottomed out on my rear spring and shock, and unless I have a half a tank of gas, the fender isn't even at tire level. Fortunes aren't made for slamming, they're just trying to make a quality handling coilover, not a "slam my ride yo, wanna be ill and hellaflush". In conclusion, you can't slam on fortunes unless you're running bigger wheels

Just get up your budget slightly and get a quality unit, then run at the lower side of a track setup for bother street and track. Not ideal for either, but will give someone like you best results.

i was also looking at kw variant 2 but couldnt find anything on whats max drop on them?
You can slam a car on any coilover, but you will need to buy add setup extra springs/hardware. Next, your alignment will be completely fcked when you raise your car for the track, just not very economical to raise and lower the car all the time.
