Blitz ZZ-R Coilovers - Real Pics
So, I've been thinking about upgrading my suspension for a while now, and instead of going with the normal choices I decided to try out something different. I did lots of internet research about these and came up pretty much empty. It seems that nobody actually has these. My Z is normally used as a weekend car, so I wasn't looking for something track oriented. Just something that would allow me to lower a bit and give me better handling without beating me up. Basically a good balance of performance, comfort, price, and quality. I don't plan on lowering more than 1", and final drop will probably be less than that.
Specs:
44mm Monotube
32 click, 1 way damping adjustment
Reinforced rubber upper mounts
OEM style rear
Front Spring Rate: 10 kg/mm
Rear Spring Rate: 8 kg/mm
Front Adjustment Range: -65mm to 0mm
Rear Adjustment Range: -35mm to +10mm
Comes with 150mm extenders for the rear
Pics:
One of the nice touches I noticed is that there are nylon washers on all the spring mounts, which should keep things quiet. I'm not sure if these are present on other coilovers or not. Something else to note is that they don't say anywhere on them where they were made. I assume that these are made for Blitz by someone else, possibly BC.
I'll update with some impressions when I install them. I'm going to check the alignment with them before I go buying suspension arms because I'm hoping that things will be within spec given that I am going for a mild drop. We'll see.

Installed
Some installed pics:
Installation was pretty easy, just make sure to disconnect the front sway bar to get the fronts in and out. I thought I could do it without unhooking the sway to start with so that wasted a lot of time. All the brackets for everything are where they should be. I installed it all at the height it was set out of the box. The rear sits fairly low, front sits kind of high. I'm going to adjust the heights soon and take some measurements, so no car shots yet.
First drive was set at 1/4 stiff front and rear. I was really surprised that they didn't feel stiffer given that the spring rates are quite a bit greater than stock. Maybe felt a little bit firmer, but no harshness at all. No squeaking or popping sounds. About the only difference was that expansion joints on the highway are a bit louder. Turned the dampers up to 1/2 stiff and everything firmed up nicely. Doesn't feel bouncy but definitely feels stiffer than stock. I'll probably leave the dampers at 1/2 but will probably still test out the other settings just to see what it's like.
Going to get the alignment done after I decide where the final ride height is going to be. From the looks of things now I'll probably need some rear camber/toe correction.

Looks like china coilovers. They don't pass the junk test with the front upper mount.

They probably are. I haven't had any problems with them except for a rattle from the rear top mount on one side. I reinstalled them with the OEM paper gaskets for the rear top mounts and the rattle is gone.
Overall I'm still happy with them. They are fine for a street coilover.
