Default Brake help!

I've been reading and I can't find this anywhere. My 05 350z has 90k miles and in the last week started grinding when I touch the brakes. It's not a typical grind it sounds like the abs system is failing or something, any advise would be appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Yes I've inspected them, brakes are good, pads are great.. Fluids are perfect... A vague noise like the abs system is trying to work comes on when I break as well with the grinding noise...

Break out your tools and man card, take the wheels off , look at the brakes and check the bearings. Very simple, anyone with a ***** should be able to do this.

Man card? I've already pulled the wheels off, brakes are fine berrings are fine. I'm pretty sure it's the abs system, I post on this site for friendly advice and help.

Ok , sounds like you covered everything and are somehow overlooking something. ABS unit can not cause a grind , the only things that can cause it are the bearings, pads and rotors.

Could it be the ABS system pulsating and causing the "grinding"? Do you feel it in the pedal?

Just posted on another thread but in my case the squeak came on ONLY when applying brakes. Came from rear left then right replacing bearings clear problem.

Another time brake pads were down to 3-4mm, yep still had cooling grove and warning device was NOT touching rotor. Guess the pads were baked.

When ABS engages it causes pulsations and shuttering sounds in my 2003. Yes, shuttering may be from baffle plate?

My 2cents.

@CustomZ did you ever find out what the issue is?? My 03 z is doing the same thing, brakes are decent, rotors look good... randomly started doing it on my way to work. only when the pedal is pressed.

May be its an ABS problem. you must have to check it before driving without taking any risk, you must have to visit a good auto repair shop. I have been regular customer of Johnsen's Automotive and it provides expert services that will makes your car running smooth as ever. It has done a good work on my auto repair needs. It offers wide range of auto repair services including engine service, oil changes, breaks, shocks, alignment, suspension, ac service and other repair services that your car may need so, I recommends you to must visit Johnsen's Automotive.

With a name like markjohnsen with a December join date, and advertising a johnsen's automotive service aren't you being a little too obvious.

Got it. Johnsen's.

Dammit... can't one click

OP. Get someone to help you and inspect each brake assembly. Rotate each rotor and have the helper apply the brakes lightly and see if you can determine whether the grinding is coming from the pads or elsewhere.
