Default What coilovers would you go with?

Know that there are tons of threads on coilovers , I am having a choice to go for a brand new set of bc racings for 995$ or a 10k miles used set of hks hypermax III for 1100$ tx included .. What would you guys go with? The car is driven daily but also going to some lapping events (nothing serious)

BC has a good enough reputation that I would buy brand new if I had the choice. Buying used coilovers is always a gamble and if a rebuild is in order that $1,100 will turn into $1,500+ real quick.

Ahhh go with the Eibach Street series, you get the kw variant 1s but for around the same price as those hypermaxes. Eibach and KW are the same company btw.

I totally agree about buying used coilovers being a bit of a gamble as until you fit and run them you just don't really know just what you're getting. The more you can save/spend the better as you will have a far better choice. I'd go for the Tein EDFC if you can afford them.

HKS are essentially non rebuildable (barring postage back to Japan)...dealbreaker. BC's are low end to me and I lump them in with the rest of the generic/tawain parts coilovers that have become staples in the import world.

With that being said you have two choices based on your budget...
You want performance, go with konis and either swift or rsr springs. That will be a little less than what you want to spend and outperform most "coilovers" within that price range.

You want looks (low) and increase in performance...
Feal or fortune auto coilovers. What seperates them from the sea of crap in that price range? HAND assembled/built right here in USA, free spring rate variations/valving, and 100% transparency regarding shock dynos.

To my knowledge eibach and K&W are not one in the same. I was under the impression eibach simply rebrands/tweaks the KW variant 1.

How about stance coilovers with swift springs? And any shop on the forum has good prices for the members?

I'd like to know if they just slap swift springs on them as a selling point or if they actually revalve the shock based on the new spring/your needs.

Excellent advice here.

I'm also a huge fan of the Tein Super street coilovers with the pillowmounts. you can get them without the EDFC and add that later down the road when your budget opens up.

Dunno what to do anymore .. not even aiming the Bc's anymore thinking about just going with the Hks that the guy is letting me go for 1100 CAD$ (1000 Us), which have 10k miles or add 300$ + duty and taxes to import them in canada for a set of eibach's or kw's

It is inevitable they will need to be rebuilt at some point and when that times comes its going to cost $1200+ between shipping to Japan and actual cost. That is something to factor in, vice $300-400 total to rebuild konis or anything else that has North American facilities.

You are right .. so what to do now ? i cant really spend over 1200-1300
Some vendors are Selling the
Stance ss for 1040$
eibach = $1315 shipped
kw v1 = $1395 shipped
bc racing = $900 shipped

But with the price of the Stance and the bc's i can add a set of discs and pads too

If you dont feel like you will want to mess with the dampening, then jump on the KW V1. Had them for 10-12K miles now and only thing wrong is the right rear bump stop is cracked. $20 part from KW no big deal.

I have KW V1s on my Z and find they are a little too soft/sloppy for my liking and I never track my car. I compare these to Cusco Zero1s i had on my.previous zed which I liked alot. Just my . 02.

Good luck with that. If thats the price range you want to be in you really should consider Feal or Fortune Auto.

I read good things about Apexi N1 EXV for that price, especially on Subaru forums... They are around $1k, can be rebuilt in the US also.
