Setting suspension up for road racing
I'm not sure if BC still sells the stock diameter rear springs, but I bought a set a few years back and it didn't require a bucket adapter. I didn't like having to max out to ride height adjustment (or preload on the bucket setup in the rear), so I ordered the +2kg rear spring which, incidentally, was a little taller than the spring that came with the kit.
I misspoke about one thing above, with a 200mm spring at 8kg/mm min, you wont need a helper spring. With the 7" its borderline (depends if you run the lower insulator), and with a 6" you definitely need it. Just for the sake of accuracy, and if you decide to go with the 200mm you will save yourself some $$ on the helper springs and coupler.
I agree with the rear spring conversion to linear.
BUT
The bigger issue is the Pss10 is not suited for the track. The adjustors Bilstein uses are terrible. You'd think that adjusting them stiffer gives you better performance. It doesn't.
Keep them if all you want to do is toodle around with whatever else you setup will bring to the party. Need damping to help with the performance pie, your barking up the wrong tree.
You CANNOT fix the issue with a revalve, you can spend hours and hours restacking all the shims Bilstien has in it's inventory. It will be a waste of time. Get the nose you want on the curve and mid and high speed are kinda lunitic fringe. And no Bilstein does not offer different adjustors that will work. Not to mention that Bilstein now wants $200 plus per corner to revalve a adjustable shock.
IMO, pull the setup and resell if for what it is. The best comfort ride system you can by for the 350Z/G35.

Now with that said, should I go ahead and spend the extra on the Ohlins Road and Track? I'm leaning more toward the Ohlins over KW V2/V3 now and don't really know of another viable option in the $1,800 - $2,500 range.
I'm glad I found your response on the Bilstein here. I was close to ordering the PSS10, but I called and talked with them and found the same info you shared. It pretty much steered me away from them as an occasional track day/autocross setup. I hung up the phone thinking just what you said "these would only be good for the street".

Driver is 90% or more of the equation.
The only thing I am taking issue with is the common statement that they are a non-track worthy setup. Hardly the case.
I would take a set of PSS vs a cheap coilover setup any day of the week, assuming we are just HPDEing and not TT etc.
I would never, and I mean never, go upstream vs a Gsedan35 pontification, however I have squeezed good times out of a set of PSS in stock form (progressive rear and all), with revised springs, and revalved with custom rates.

You've got me considering the Bilstein again now though.

And I am definitely not grabbing a cheap set just to get low. The Bilsteins are about the cheapest option at this point.
I'm leaning more toward the KW or Ohlins after reading a few posts about the Bilsteins not really responding to adjustments. I have the Koni Sport Yellows with drop springs now and there is definitely a response to the adjustments on those.
Whatever you do get something equipped with linear springs. With the Bilsteins you will have to eventually convert the rear to linear, which is easy enough, and if you go KW that means v3 or better.
BTW I run the PSS non adjustables. The initial allure of the PSS with a revalve and custom rates back in the day was that it set you up with a custom valved/spring monotube rig at a relatively affordable price point.
What you realize is that after all is said and done you should just get a quality kit out of the gate, because the $$, time, labor, downtime, etc spent tuning your suspension add up. That said, the lessons learned along the way are priceless.
In the end, let your budget decide. If you can swing for something higher end, go for it.

Where did you have the Bilsteins revalved? I called Bilstein USA and they want like $230 per corner and the rep on the phone wasn't very knowledgable.
Like you said though, I don't want to buy the Bilstein only to then buy linear springs and revalve the shocks.
