Ok thanks. I did a bench bleed of the MC to start with and what I thought was a pretty good job of bleeding the system. But I'm not sure if a poor bleed would cause the pedal sinking issue, thought it would be more likely to cause a "mushy" pedal instead.

I'll try another bleed and see how that goes.

 

Does the pedal feel more firm after pumping a few times? That can indicate air on the system. How about leaks? Does either MC have fluid leaking out the back? That's bad seals.

 

Ok today I took the long way home and found some shingle. After giving the ABS a bit of a work out the sinking pedal is gone. It's still not as firm as I would like but at least that seems to have narrowed it down to the bleed. Fingers crossed!

Might buy a power bleeder and give that a go, I'll post the outcome on here.

Very good idea getting the ABS to cycle. I think that's what the dealers do with their diagnostic computer. Definitely get a pressure bleeder - one of my most useful tools, and not only do you get a better bleed, but it also save a lot of wear on the MC bore and seals from multiple full strokes of the piston during a pedal pump bleed.

 

As mentioned, even with my pressure bleeder, I have to bleed multiple times to get the air out.

Can't wait to remove my ABS unit
