Default RockAuto upgrade my 05 Touring's brakes?

I have an 05 Touring, the brakes are weak, this is old news. My pads and rotors are shot and now seems like a good time to fix this up. Really just thinking street and maybe autocross, not track day duty. I know the Z had a couple different brakes over its lifetime; in particular I noticed that RockAuto carries four piston monoblock Powerstop replacement calipers. I was thinking these could be a nice inexpensive way forward. Are they just generic replacements for the Brembo calipers? I have monoblock envy but no brand envy and if I can grab these and follow the usual instructions, that's a solid savings and new parts too.

Are you talking about the re-manufactured Brembos? I bought the A1 Cardone remanufactured Brembos from RockAuto, they are OEM just paint stripped with all new seals. The rears are harder to come by but do pop up every now and then.

First post in a long time ... are the Touring model brakes not already Brembo calipers?? There is a post out there that shows the stopping performance between the 350Z Brembo and conversion 370Z Akebono calipers being negligible. So if you are looking for "better bite" just buy some high quality pads and rotors to throw on your existing setup.

Having said that, I use RockAuto regularly and will recommend them. I purchased reman Akebono calipers, pads, rotors, shipped them to Canada and then had the calipers custom powdercoated for less than any online retailer was selling a pre-made kit.

Lots of good options on the site for daily/street use, I went with Raybestos R-300 rotors and Raybestos R-Line pads for street use. They perform as well as I'd like them to on the street and I am VERY impressed with the low dusting properties of the setup. I don't drive my Z every day but the wheels actually stay clean for a few 100km now as opposed to getting dirty after one trip with previous pads.

...I'll just add, you can buy (4) Akebono calipers on RockAuto for $560 CDN (roughly $415US) and then powder coat or paint whatever you want.

Nope, basic sliders... I think some people call them "Altima brakes".

Might have to look that up. Sounds like the Akebonos are a bit tougher for wheel fitment than the Brembos though.
