Guys/Ladies, I'm in the current situation as mlam002. I'm looking at a 04' Enthusiast Auto with a sticker of $31,565. Its already got 349 miles on it, a few rock chips across the front bumper, and swirl marks on the roof. I'm also trading in a 2004 Honda S2000 in mint condition with less than 800 miles on it. The dealer is offering me $29,565 for the Z and only $23,500 for my S2000. To me, this offer isn't going to work. Do ya'll think the same?

Why so less miles on the S2000? Want to trade for a base Z (10k miles). It was purchased on Mar of this year. I have over $2.5k on stereo.

Dude, I was this close to buying an S2000 (like 3 times), but everytime i sat on it, its too small for a daily driver. I am just 5'9, 165lbs.

Why don't you like the S2000? I love the convertible.

Tony, just bought the car in early July. It's my weekend car. I drive it maybe once a week. The car itself is great. It handles like you wouldn't believe. The speed is there. Overall a fun car to drive and own. Convertibles are cool! But... I've just grown tired of driving a stick and would like the conveniences that come with owning a Z. I'm sure you can understand as an owner. I'm 5'10' and 140lbs. I find it to actually have more headroom than the Z, but only marginally better. Anyways, I'm looking to buy new. Thanks for the interest though.

Keep the S2000!! If it was not for the fact that you can not really get any more power of the F22C in NA form then I personally would have gotten that instead. The driving experiance in that car just can not bebeat IMO.

Plus your taking a HUGE hit on a car that you have barley even had. Driving a manual tranny everyday really isnt bad. I myself find it annoying when I have to drive an auto.

Jsn350Z, yeah the potential of the F22C is limited compared to its competitors. But, damn its pretty fast in my book. The experience of driving my car will forever remain lasting in my memory. It's great fun. I still get kinda nervous (in a good way) when I get in to drive it.

I know that the trade-in is gonna be bad for me. I've looked at my options and understand what generally is going to happen. It's not good. But in the long run, I see myself happier in a Z. I should have bought it first. Well, as they say, to each his own I guess.

But back to what's at hand. How low should I go on the Z? I looking to get at least $25,000 for the S before I willing to let it go.

Oh and BTW, if the dealer isn't going to give a a good offer and only try to lowball me, I'm not buying/trading. I willing to walk away from the table anytime.

You could sell the s2k for well over 25k being an 04 with only 800 miles on it. Just be patient and sell it private party, then go make a good deal on a Z.

Got my 2004 base model with aero package and aluminum kick plates for $26.5 + ttl. Adding the HID's for $300.

sell your s on your own...i think the cheapest i saw you could buy a new one was 31k. you should be able to get at least 28 for that. i had a beat blue one we sold for 23k, but was more of a car that needed tlc, nowhere near mint, but we sold it cheap. Had 10 people come and look at it one weeknd and it sold. 3k less than any other s listed on the web in orlando. It is december though, even though we are in southern states, verts are soft in the wholesale market that could be a big reason they are giving you so little for it

$30,100 OTD for an auto Enthus is not a bad price. If you really want the car then yes you should do it. It is possible to save a couple hundred more though if you shop around. But like others have said, I would not let that be a deal breaker.

Thanks for the help everyone. mlam002, I appreciate your kindness in the thread-jacking. It seems we're both kinda in the same boat. Your current offer is a good deal. With my current area sales tax rate of 8.25% and the title and licence stuff, the offer you've got is good because the dealer has cut the price to about $27,800. I'd want the my dealer to go to atleast $27,000 flat because of the 349 miles, swirl marks, and scratches (plus he kinda made me mad during negotiations). What's the condition of the car you're looking at? If its good, I'd say buy the Z and enjoy it. It's a very good deal.

jackie chan, I know that winter is upon us. It feels like 32 degress outside right now. I've got a roughly $26,000 trade-in value for the S2000 according to Kelly Blue Book and Edmunds.com. I want to sell my car for what its worth, but know that it's only going to sell at what the market can offer. $28,000 sounds great to me, but do you think I should push the dealer to get near that mark? I would like to, but don't know if it's a realistically attainable goal.

i dont know the smarket too well, but i would say good trade value on kbb should not be far out of reach. Most dealers end up selling used cars for kbb private party value, so you should probably get between trade and private pretty easily. It only take one buyer you know? you might list it for sale and have a guy buy it the next day or be sitting on it for months...it is all just luck.

If you check edmunds.com under rebates, etc. you will find there usually is a hidden manufacturer to dealer incentive that only they know about; and that is one they don't want you to know about nor deduct from the OTD price of your car, if you get the right salesperson and a good manager you should be able to get that reduction.....good luck!
