while there might be a minimum amount its different for everyone. i mean you could make alot of money but have kids a house to pay for and alot of debt or you could make alot less but be in a position where you dont spend alot of money. so i would say there isnt a definate answer.
but if you add up average monthly expenses running money and then a car payment im sure you could come up with a ballpark # of what it takes to afford a 30K car. thats assuming you buy new.
so the short answer is there isnt one answer

Whatever you think that the 350Z will cost per month, multiply by 1.5. Insurance can be as expensive as a Corvette. And routine maintenance can break your monthly budget. Tires are about $800. Some of our members have found it easier to get into a 350Z them keep the car. Check the marketing forum for posts like
Hi guys. I have to sell by 350Z because I can no longer afford it.
Most of our members who dump the 350Z do so because of poor planning: they set aside $500/month for payments and nothing else.

Well as im sure everyone already knows, many things factor into affording a car. I guess i'll be the first to seriously answer this question..
In my case, I'm 5 months out of college and making about 45K a year with a raise expected within the next month or two. I still live at home (very comfortably i might add and probably not going anywhere anytime soon lol). I'm not paying any bills except insurance on my 02 WRX ($4K a year), my cell phone bill, and my credit card bill which really gets expensive. I've also bought a couple new toys with my new found income, but whos counting. I'd like to get the car now, but ill keep my wrx until the winters over and there isnt any snow left and then ill sell my WRX and get my Z. Can't wait.

realisticly.....my payments are $500 a month plus $230 a month for insurance. To the OP ....if you can make these payments and still pay a mortgage and CC's and feed yourself then go buy a Z tommorow
