Smile Buying 2007 Grand Touring 350Z (Questions)

Okay, my first post in this forum.

I have been searching for new cars and have settled on the 350Z because I believe it has the perfect balance of performance, features, and styling for the money. Other cars I have looked at include the 06' Evo, 07' STI, and 07' Corvette (little expensive when optioned out, close to the price of a Z06 )

I have been calling various dealerships in my area and have been offered invoice price for the following:

2007 350Z Grand Touring Coupe
Manual
Silver Alloy
Burnt Orange Interior

Options:
U01 - Nav (Which forces you to get S01 - Side Airbags / Head Curtains
M95 - Splash Guards
P93 - Aluminum Kick Plates
L92 - Carpeted Floor Mats
N93 - Cargo Convenience Package
T94 - Carpeted Trunk Mat

The MSRP for this combo is $39,625. After talking to the Sales Manager for a while he agreed to do invoice, which is $35,900 according to him.

Good deal? Should I try to get below invoice?

I also wanted to know if the Rays make any noticeable difference in acceleration over a 350Z with standard wheels?

that sounds like a great deal. ive been trying to deal with my salesman and so far with all the same options i only got 2100 off msrp so that is 37525. you got 3725 off msrp to get 35900. i orginally wanted no nav but they said they found with with nav in it and that is more then what i want to spend. i have to get more money off. what dealership is this?

thanks

MAtt

That's a problem spot right there. Go to edmunds.com, enter the car and options you want and let it tell you what the invoice is. If it's the same, so be it; you will be better-informed.

Yes, getting it at invoice is a good deal. I got mine that way last year as well.

Welcome.

I consider $37,643 a reasonable offer. Do you have the $35,900 quote in writing?

I have it in an email. They want me to come in on Saturday. I guess I'm gonna turn my b.s. sensors to full alert when I get there

with the options on edmunds, it added up to an invoice of 35466 without the 615 for destination. with that it comes to 36081. getting it for 35900 i would jump on that in a heart beat. i am going to have deal some more or go to a different dealership. i am not going to pay 37525 when i can still get 1000 - 1500 off the msrp.

just got back from my dealer and i am pissed. with the same options, i got the price to $36500 which i think is good but, when it came down to what my payments will be i got wasn't happy. with my trade in of 14500, 3500 down they were trying to give me a 425 payment. i own nothing on my trade in and it does not make sense in my head. would think the payments would be a lot lower. i walk out taking back my 1000 deposit i put last week. guess i am going to a different dealership.

Never EVER negotiate on payments; always cost$ and APR+term. Payments is where they nail you. You may be happy that you got it down to $400, only to realize later that you're stuck in a 72-month term, with a higher APR than sanely acceptable.

they were giving me 6.99% and it was for 60 months. when i do it on nissanusa.com in the estimate monthy payments it comes out to like $360. so i don't know where they are coming up with 425. from the beginning told them i wanted a carbon silver with black seats and only the basic options, no nav or side airbags. a week after i put a $1000 deposit my dealer tells me they can only get me a white with orange seats and it has nav and side airbags. i can't see why they can't just order me a carbon silver grand touring with the stuff i want.

At that APR on a 60 month loan, you would need have an initial balance no higher than $18,200 to get a $360/month payment. A balance of $21,500 gets you a $425/mo payment. A sales price of $35,900 plus tax, title, etc puts you over $38k -- you can do the math from there to see how much you have to put down.

Just make sure they don't try to tack on extra fees. The only legitimate fees on a new car purchase are the sales tax and a title fee (which should be less that $50). Doc fees, VIN etching, undercoating, fabric protection, prep fees, etc... are all bogus.

Destination is a legit charge too... usually $500-$750.

Yes I did. However, I did modify the order a bit.

From building the car online I was under the impression that you couldn't have Satellite Radio and Navigation. The Sales Rep checked with the Regional Nissan Rep. and he said it would be fine so I added XM!

Total for everything:
2007 Nissan Z Grand Touring Coupe (6-Speed Manual)
Silver Alloy / Burnt Orange Leather (My favorite color combo!)

DVD Naviagtion
Side Airbags / Head Curtains
XM Radio
Painted Splash Guards
Aluminum Kick Plates
Carpeted Floor Mats
Carpeted Trunk Mat
Cargo Convenience Package

Total - $35,937.93 (which is below invoice )
