Default Illegal to buy from the US from CANADA?

i heard about that case in niagra falls where canadians who wanted to buy a vehicle from the states were rejected from the dealership, my question is that since our canadian dollar is strong now and the government or car manufacturers are doing what they can do stop us canadians from buying over there. Im looking to buy private is there anything at the border they can do to not allow me to bring it back to canada? like i dont wanna buy private then im stuck in the US with my new car =(

thx

The above poster is close. Call US Customs & BOrder Protection for the necessary paperwork.

You can import to Canada from the USA, however you will have to fill out alot of paperwork and pay any necessary fees & taxes.

+1 on this line of reasoning. Definitely find everything out first, there might even be forms online and a schedule of fees to go with it.

I would also check with US customs to find out what paperwork might be required for export, if any. Plus, don't forget that the state where you purchase the car from might want it's cut of sales tax too.

Better to cross all your T's and dot all your I's before you show up at the border with a car and a much lighter wallet.
