Dealer is offering me an 07 MB Enthusiast 6MT brand new for $29000 OTD. Is it a good deal for 07 or i can get 08 for the same price?

Could we pleeeeeeze not talk about "OTD?" "Out the door" means after all taxes, fees, etc. I have no idea what your sales tax rate is where you are, or what your licensing fees are, or anything like that. So I can't tell you whether or not $29G is a good price. It could be horrible.

Try again: What price has the dealer quoted you BEFORE all taxes and fees, but including destination? And it would be helpful to know what MSRP is on the vehicle as well. Thanks.

Before all the fee is about $27500. Is it a good deal for 07?

Decent deal. But keep in mind, on this board, if you posted you were getting the Z free of charge at least three people would be telling you they got their car free AND the dealer threw in a year's worth of free gasoline!!

Yes, I think that's a good deal. Maybe you could do better, but not by much, and anyway that's not what you're asking. My scientific wild-a$$ guess is that you'd pay probably $1200 more for an '08, but you'd have to work at it. An '07 is a year old before you drive it off the lot. That would tip some people to an '08. OTOH, with the $1200 you save by buying the '07 you could start modding.... You pays your money and you takes your choice. Hope that helped.

I went back through some of my old threads and the first thread I made had this exact same title.

I don't think I realized it was a tv show before I made that thread.

I didn't realize that either.

I checked KBB last week. Invoice price between 07 & 08 is less than $100 so i'll try to get an 08 but i would not pay more than $500 over the 07.

CarsDirect says you can get the same car for 25780.

Or you could get the 08 model for 28180

Quick note- Carsdirect does not sell cars. It's a poor resource for car buyers and creates problems for dealers and buyers alike. I have kicked them out of two stores where I have worked as internet manager. To confirm continued suckage, I just specced out a non-existant car and was informed that the top dealership in the area would contact me and sell me the car for $1900 under invoice. Consider edmunds.com and kbb for better new car information.

The deal you got could probably work on an 08, it just depends on how badly you want to spend your free time shopping for cars.

Of course the site with the higher price would be "better new car information" for a internet sales manager...

As long as someone is not in a rush, I'm sure CarsDirect will work out for them. Just keep making CarsDirect do the legwork of finding the car and sit back and relax.

That defeats the entire purpose of internet sales.

Even though you are statistically 3-6 times more likely to close a deal if you do not use carsdirect, you're right. You probably buy one car every three years and possibly know other people who have purchased cars so your real world experience is much greater than mine.

It's OK. Mainstream journalism has a long way to go with their uninformed ramblings about the car business as well.

I wouldn't presume to know what exactly the purpose of internet sales is for sales manager like yourself, but I believe consumers generally use this method to obtain the OTD price of vehicles from many different sellers in a time-efficient manner. This does not necessarily mean that the person is in a rush to purchase the vehicle. In fact, those who are in a rush to purchase the vehicle may not even use internet sales, but rather walk straight into the showroom, which leads into your second point of people being statistically 3-6 times more likely to close a deal if they had not used CarsDirect. What internet car sales sites like CarsDirect do is to allow a typical consumer to sit back and be "statistically 3 to 6 times more likely" to make an objective decision regarding price than one who goes into the showroom and "falls in love" with one particular high-volume production vehicle.
