It is not a collectible, nor is it of such high build quality or class that it maintains its value, especially not in light of the fact that tens of thousands of new ones are available at the drop of a hat. Naturally, the used car market is well aware of these facts.

For the record, I'm about to close a deal on a beautiful Magnetic Black 06 Enthusiast w/15k miles for 18.5k, private seller. The car is mint with no accident or drivetrain malfunction history. Take that as you may.
My point exactly....

No it's not a "quite" a deal. It's a realistic deal compared to those who are trying to sell their 2 year old base Z for $400 below the online-no-haggle pricing of a new base Z.

It is "quite a deal" simply because if you looked/searched for a 06 z..you know its RARE to find them at that price. autotrader.com is your friend, check it out..350z is a nissan, just FYI

You guys DO realize that this Polo(insert-random-numbers-here) person, and people just like him all over the intarwebNET, gets off on posting this drivel and getting you guys all riled up, right?

If you know his theoretical numbers hold water about as well as a dip net, what do you care what he posts? Responding to these inane ramblings only gives the OP the attention that they crave and encourages them to continue.

Hell, I would even go so far as to presuppose that his "figures" are correct. I don't know because I don't care enough to read post after post in the first place. But granting him benefit of the doubt, I'd say faaaantastic. Go make your best deal, ****** one up cheap and come back and post pictures. I'll pat 'em on the head and tell them fine job! Love your new Z. Why?

Because honestly, I don't care what he paid for it anymore than I plan on telling what what I paid for mine. I paid a price I was happy with and the dealer obviously turned a profit because he sold it. Capitalism. Isn't America wonderful? Beyond that, it's no one's business what I paid. LOL Nor do I care what anyone else paid. My old standby, "If you're happy, I'm happy for you" applies.

Now then, where's my "Please, Do not feed the trolls" sign at? I know it's around here somewhere.

Just my thoughts, fellas.

Clark, you have very valid points and to answer your question as to why we reply like we do? Because this clown posts in for sale threads (like, "your car isn't worth that," "a new Z can be had here, for blah blah..."). Where I come from, you don't **** in someone else's pond.....especially when he doesn't plan on buying the car in the thread he's pissing in, nor will he ever even buy a Z. He's just some punk college kid sitting on his custom built, neon lighted PC, posting feverishly about how he *knows* he's right on the value of 350Z pricing.

Of note, he's only an expert on the 2006-2008 models. I suppose his brain can't power back more than 3 years.

What if someone like yourself is trying to rip people off? Would you not feel an obligation to make sure other forum members know they're getting the short end of the stick. I'm sure you're mad about that and demonstrated completely unprofessional approach (ie. profanity and name-calling), but hey, I guess that's expected of a "successful Autopian detailer".

I'm sorry that "pissing in someone else's pond" is considered profanity to you, you must be really sensitive, I'll consider that in the future. You know, your bright future on my350z, whereby you never buy the Z and post 150 times in 3 more years?

And we all feel *much* safer in this harsh, online community where users ask prices on their Z's that *you* feel are a ripoff. With these days of war, murder, and rape, we are all very lucky to have you around, saving us from just giving our money to the first shiny Z we see for sale. I wish you were around when I bought mine....I let emotion get the best of me.....and bought it for under invoice.

We're all very lucky to have you around too. I have a friend that wants to sell his used car, when can you come around to detail his car? From what you've told me, apparently your great "Autopian detailing skills" will add a couple thousand dollars to the value of a used car.

No problem, since I did it for a living, I can easily add value to a beat up car prior to a sale. It's what I do.

Make sure to be there when I degrease the wheels so I can spray some in your eye.

Have you given thought to the idea that perhaps your attitude and lack of professionalism is the reason why you're just detailing for a living and not moving up in society?

Somehow a difference in opinion as to the value of used Zs causes you to constantly make immature jabs at people. You're not doing yourself any favors, just self-inflicted embarassment.

Self-inflicted embarassment?
Not moving up in society?
You do know there isn't one singe person here that likes you right?
Good, because you're a little *****.

P.S.-A question for ya (not a trick smartboy). Does crapping on individuals for sale threads, devaluing members cars, not owning a Z yet being a ******** on here for 3 years, all make you professional? Just a thought for your developing college boy brain to ponder upon.

Pointing out that you're trying to sell your used 2007 Z for the same price as a new 2008 Z would seem like "crapping" in your perspective wouldn't it? Think of it as more of a reality check. And how did you arrive at the conclusion that I am devaluing cars? If I could do so, then all the more power to me right? All I did was simply cite multiple sources such as both Yahoo Autos and Edmunds. What data or proof do you have to support your case? If you have an issue with the value that they have determined, you should really take it up with them. Venting your frustration at me won't change the value of what your car might be worth (even if you think it's "better than new" because you've detailed it).

Since you've brought it up 3 times now, I'll inform you of a quick thing.

-All cars arrive at the dealership as new, however, the rail system transport and often times sitting on boats with salt spray on them makes the paint gritty, especially on the horizontal surfaces. Every new car I've bought had a desperate need of a claybar contamination removal. Not to mention, when a dealer "detail" department "details" the cars, they sludge on greasy, silicone based tire dressing that slings on the car when driving, they use cheap glazes with tons of fillers to hide the dealer RIDS, and apply a cheap wax that might last 2 weeks.

The process I go through when detailng the new cars I purchase takes anywhere from 4-6 hours, and cannot be completed by your regular joe that thinks he knows how to wash a car. In this sense, yes, my cars are in *far* better condition than when new.

Think I know what I'm talking about now? (of course you don't, you still think my asking price with $4K in wheels, 2K miles, and still $1500 under invoice was a bad ASKING price and OBO....so of course the fact that I made $200-$300 a car detailing makes me a hack and comparable to dealership "detailing" departments). Keep on thinking you're always right, it's worked well for ya so far (at proving me right). ha

Suppose you see an used 2005 car being advertised for 21,000 and initially you think its a steal because they car stickered for 27,000 when it was new.

But if you look at the numbers carefully and do some simple math....
1. A used 2005 vehicle is 4 years or 48 months old by now (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008)
2. The savings you would have gotten is 27,000-21,000 = 6000.
3. Assuming that you are the 2nd owner, it would have only costed the first owner:

$6000/48 months = $125/month to use this vehicle
Such a figure is MUCH lower than even a monthly payment for a lease

4. Depending on mileage, the 1st owner has not taken the hit on the depreciation, you are taking the hit on depreciation as it only costed him $125 a month to use this vehicle unless the vehicle is EXTREMELY low mileage.
stupidest f'ing thing i've ever heard or read in 10+ years in the car business
