Price aside, go for the 07.

I personally suggest the evo/sti because you're young (I just turned 20 so I can relate). Go test drive a Z and then a evo/sti, you are going to want a turbo car and boosting a Z is not cheap... at all.

Well I think the evo/sti might be a out of the runnings now...any other turboed cars that are recommended?

Why do you say boost? Just asking

Maintaining an Evo is nowhere close to cheap either.

He already stated he liked the power of the Z's.
And he's young, which translates into not fully being ready for boost.

If you really crave a good starter turbo car, look into 97-99 Eclipse GST/GSX's. Owning one will help you dive into the world of mechanics and other automotive work. DSM's are also widely supported on the aftermarket.

Well my dad put a nice little requirement on the cars I choose hence the big list of cars I went through. He says he wants it to be newer and low miles. If I was to go the Talon/Eclipse road it would have to be a 99, but I asked him about it and he said that might even be pushing it, never hurts to ask again though. The Eclipse is significantly cheaper too. I love the Eclipse the only problem is there is already 6 of them where I go to school. One is pure JDM with body kit and all. I was looking at the RSXs and they aren't to bad to buy a turbo kit for.

Any more ideas Silverstone?

Thanks a bunch too.

the RSX-S's are decent in performance, and they look pretty nice IMO at least. It was on my list of cars that I looked at before settling on the Z. Widely supported on the aftermarket, very reliable, and you get VTEC .

They're not turbo, but that could be a good thing. If it's a car you plan on keeping for many years, you could settle with an RSX and go Forced Induction later.

They do have relatively low limits power-wise. You can't expect to get a speedy car without a lot of money.

Take the red pill

"But we already know what you are going to do, don't we? Already I can see the chain reaction: the chemical precursors that signal the onset of an emotion, designed specifically to overwhelm logic and reason. An emotion that is already blinding you to the simple and obvious truth: she is going to die and there is nothing you can do to stop it."

Yeah, I mean the RSX has 200hp that isn't bad considering its weight, but I do want more power....

Going off book-given power estimates is lame. An RSX doesn't have 200hp at the wheels. A 2003-206 Z gets around 240rwhp IIRC, and an 07 is somewhere around 280? Someone correct me please

Well power wise I want some thing that can hold its own on the street...not that I am saying I street race, but it is nice to know I have a faster car on the road, it brings about a certain respect. So something with 250-300hp. At least something that can beat those damn Scion tCs which isn't hard!

For the record this is not my first car either... I currently own a beater volvo s80 with almost 200k miles... Stay away from those cars when we are all 80 and still driving...they cost a fortune to maintain...

here, read, then decide what's important for you.
https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....ng+grand+track
as far as bells and whistles, i knew i definitely wanted leather interior, navi, steering wheel controls, bose sound system [i'm not that into audio mods so i wanted the OEM system to be decent]. i would have loved to have brembos but that, along with the extras i wanted, equaled a grand touring and that threw it a tad out of my price range. plus, i figured in a few years i'd end up getting a different bbk anyway so it wouldnt matter. so i ended up with the touring.

If you got the money saved up, go with the base model 07 Z. But... If I were your dad, I wouldn't even let you get a sports car because it's not WISE. Here's why?
1. You are going to try to show off to your friends, drive faster than you normally do. Maybe get into a wreck.
2. You will get more tickets because it's a sports car
3. You will enjoy it less because all you will be working for is your car payment.

If you really think about it, all you want the car for is to show off. Be realistic, and save up for college. Basically, get a regular car, and spend all your money on women. Afterall, that will become your most expensive hobby!

check this out bro..

My parents bought me my first car in '06, a brand new 2007 Scion tC.

I graduated High School '07, joined the military, got injured and came out.

I'm 20 years old now, and I'm a car salesman for Toyota. I bought my own 350z; used, 2006, 400/month, and with 0 down.

I thought that was easy and a fair price...

Guess what, insurance is 235/month, gas is about ~300/month depending on how much I drive (it's never gone less then 300) and in a month, I spend almost 1,000$ just to drive my car.

Unless Dad is paying for your car.. I will bet my own Z that you will not be able to afford the car unless your working full time instead of college.

Think twice about getting the Z as your first car bro. I drove a 4banger for about 2 years before I ditched that, gave it to my brother and bought my own car. IMO.. you should get a 4 banger.. or something to commute with.. you want speed, get a GTI, Civic SI, anything but a "sports car." Then later down the path invest in your own car like the Z. It'll be night and day and you'll appreciate it 100000000000x more and learn from your mistakes in the first car you modded..

You seem pretty mature for your age so I hope these words don't go through one ear and out the other..

I was looking at an RSX for along time prior to getting my 350z. I couldn't find a good priced type S that I liked and ended up going with a Scion tC, ended up trading in my tC for a 350z when I found a decently priced one used, totaled that one in my first accident and still went with another 350z... Had I found a decent RSX-s ... I dunno if I'd own a Z, I still love those cars. Both are gonna be pretty high on insurance at 17... The Z is also a bit more expensive than an RSX, which if you plan on going to college might be something to think about.

I say flip a coin, only real way to decide.
