I stay out of these threads because I'm a salesman and they **** me off. I get tired of reading the same ******* replies or know-it-all consumers thinking they know the best way. Here's a hint: KBB, Edmunds, NADA... they all suck. If they say your car is worth that much, ****ing sell it to them.

KBB, Edmunds, Cars.Com, etc, i never really put 100% confidence in their numbers. nor do i believe those "Dealer Invoice/Costs" figures either. and nope, i dont buy the BS that dealers and salesmen put out too.
its about like peace in the Middle East. aint ever gonna happen. just read the Bible. the only time there will be peace over there is when the Lord returns........
Mike
p.s. peace/truce Jeffie7, its all good.

Either way, as long as a dealer believes you're serious about buying car, they will do what they can to make the deal. until they know that, they will just dick around and throw #s around till no end.
by age 23 I was on my 6th car and 5th motorcycle. I've done a lot of dealing.
Buying a motorcycle IMO is much harder then a car, motorcycle dealerships are friggin hard *****. Again, the sales people change a lot when they see money.
FWIW I paid 23K OTD with trade in of my 97 civic (offered me 1200 for the civic) back in 06 for my 04 TL, the KBB was 29,xxx.xx
also paid 24K for my 350Z back in 03, yes it is a base, but it was not many months after it came out. also came with 100K mile warranty bumper to bumper.
MOST dealers are going to be "honest" about invoice price because they still have hold-backs and are still making money. The company can still have a spin on it so the dealership makes money regardless so they don't mind discounting it. Like I said those, this is most. Not all companies work that way.
KBB is going to be closest to value but it's still not spot on. Request a Manheim Market Report for vehicles equipped the exact way yours is. That's the only way to get a fair idea of what it's worth.
Long story short though:
If you show up at my work and start barking orders at me, telling ME what you think your car is worth and I do this **** everyday, I'll give you your walking papers. You're not worth the headache when the next guy will pay sticker.

we agreed on the price for that 2008, and then when they told me it was damaged i just threw my arms in the air, wondering what else can happen in this mess.
as far as the 2007 goes, i didnt really think they gave me a decent price, so the fact of the matter is i think i will just keep my $500 a month.
funny, i let them know this first thing this morning, that i wasnt interested. and now i have received three phone calls, three voice mails, and two text messages. one text msg the manager even said he had the car. wonder how that happened???

The difference in paying retail and dealership net net is $80/month. Which doesn't mean a whole lot if you have the personality and budget that truly affords a Z.
the only thing i have to pay on is my $24,000 home equity line of credit. its a minimum of 1% each month. i'm single, no kids, no expensive habits, etc, etc. the bank said my credit rating was excellent.
the plan was to pay around $1,200 a month down on the home equity loan. but with a $500 350Z loan that would have brought the home equity monthly payment down to around $700 a month. the problem would be if i had unexpected bills, such as any dental bills, repairs on the other car, that all of a sudden would tax a guy.

Some people have the money and would rather just buy the car instead of spending two weeks looking for the best deal, and then end up saving 2,000 dollars. It is all about time, and what their time is worth.
