Default how to tell if it was beaten on???

hi there,
i'm new to the forum and tried searching it but nothing came up. I am currently in the market for a Z. and am looking for a white one on the east coast, which seems impossible in my price range(under 20,preferably around 15) and i was wondering if there's any clear signs to see if the car was beaten on besides bald tired and oil on the exhaust tips?? because I don't wanna buy one and it sh**s the bed on me and i'm screwed.

Whatever one you buy will be fine if you testdrive it and don't notice any problems. Can't tell how good the motor is unless you do a compression test.

honestly, if i was you i'd save up a little more money and get one with low mileage and try to get it form an older guy or an adult liek 40 n up. if you buy a z from someone who is like 20 chances are they beat on it a little. All you can realy do is test drive it and make sure you dont feel anything wrong with it for the most part though. If you get an 03 - 04 theres a good chance u might have tranny problems anyway bc those years had a lot of problems with synchros, i know, i have an 03 and luckily i have a warranty bc thrid and fourth gear were done in my car after like 3 months and it only had 20k miles on it when i bought it. good luck man

yeah it was horrible cuz the tranny was pretty rare too so ended up buying a whole nother car just to get a tranny.
and as for the Z's from wut i've read i'm aiming for an 05 i guess. but yeah what would be a "realistic" price range for a white one 6 speed, doesn't matter model cuz i'm changing all the speakers and maybe subs. but deff hard top, don't really like the convertibles

You may be able to spot problems like transmission by driving the car. Other problems like compression can only be checked by a mechanic.

You put your money on the table and roll the dice.

Definately want to get a 350Z from a old guy like myself (59). That way you know it has been pampered like a baby.

You will improve your odds by taking car you want to buy to a good mechanic for a thorough exam. Most cars that have been beat have tell tale signs.

Pay a good mechanic.

used sports car..it will be semi ragged out. The odds of a person buying a sports car and not driving it hard is pretty slim.

Default Beaten on....not good!

It may take a while but look for a low mileage car in mint condition and even
then run a CareFax inquirey. People with mint cars don't normally beat on
them! Never buy a car from a kid, chances are they don't have a clue how
to take care of a Z or any other car!

Honestly i would just drive it and see how it feels, how smooth the motor is, how the tranny feels, the brakes, the clutch, things like that. As long as the car has been maintained properly it should be fine. Testing things like that are good sign's of how well it's been maintained. I push my car pretty hard, but everything it in perfect condition, because i maintain it very well.

well, it's not like these cars are expensive to fix, just find one you like for the right price, and buy it! Things that break are just reasons to upgrade. If the motor blows, hello built block wheels curbed, hello Volk's (or other brand), clutch goes, hello upgraded clutch. You get the point. I guess it depends on your budget though.
