Question can only lease or finance the Z?

I was informed once again by my local sales rep that I can only lease or finance the Z. His explanation was to the effect that Nissan wants to prevent the new owners from having full title to their Zs in order to prevent them from selling Canadian Zs in the US.

Is this true? If so, this is too restrictive. I personally want to purchase the car to own, and don't want to be bothered with financing or leasing the vehicle, but according to my dealer, I cannot buy the car!

I doubt it, but if that is the case get a loan and then pay it off after you take delivery.

Just make sure it is a loan without a prepayment penalty. Also make sure that the interest is amortized, not calculated at the beginning. Otherwise, you'll be paying for all the interest when you only had the loan out for such a short time - what a waste!

But honestly, I don't see how they can prevent us from buying it outright. I dont' think they'd have anything to worry about with the US people taking them into Canada, but Canada might have to worry about people taking them into the US - only cuz of the price difference. Maybe you should call 1800Nissan1 and find out. I think your dealer might be doing something sneaky, but I can't imagine what?

Guys,

I posted this about some months ago. FatZo I believe you bought your vehicle from the same place I did - Alta Nissan Woodbridge. I called Nissan Canada about this and their finance people told me this was completely NOT true. I faxed a copy of a note to Nissan Canada, I emailed them and still insisted that this is NOT the case.

Souonds like the dealer is just trying to make money ... so what's new you say? I would call Nissan Canada again to confirm. Any wonder I was jumping up and down back then ...

I'd be personally interested in hearing, can't believe they could do this? Any legal folks out there that can comment?

Hope this helps you in Canada. I have a written agreement, whch was signed by my dealer at pre-order time, stating he will be paid in cash at the time of delivery. MSRP + Tax + license - $1000 deposit, no additional charges of any kind.
Don't you think they get a Spif for every lease or financing deal they write ?
