Default Z Shopping :Things to be aware of

Hi all, this is a great forum. I am an active member of many other forums (unrelated to 350z) and yes it is very annoying when people don't search for questions already answered. Well I did ALOT of searching and although there is some good info, I'm looking for some specific answers.

I am on the market for a used 350Z. Love the car, always have.

1. I know all about the tire feathering issues, what I want to know is if they really solved this issue in the 2005 and beyond years which seems to be whats reported. I really don't want to deal with this issue, and if it really was taken care of in the 05's and newer that will immediately give me a starting point. In most threads posted back in 05, people laughed when Nissan reported via their dealers that this was no longer an issue. Then the thread would die and there would be no more info. I know that there will be the odd case of 06's, 07's etc.. that have the issue, but I'm speaking in broader terms.

2. Oil burning in 06's - I know this is only with the MT, but...

a) is there a decent fix?
b)Was it Nissan covered?
c)If not, what does the fix entail $$ wise.
d)Is this one of those problems that appears by a certain mileage or not at all?

Really, this is just about getting updated info on these 2 problems. I guess my point is, I'm looking for an 06, (usually a good mix of price and mileage from what Ive seen) and if the feathering issue is less prominent, and the oil burning issue has been addressed, then I'll push forward.

Go for an 07...you will have less risk. I have an 03, no feathering. I know a guy with an 06, no oil problems. But...you will run the risk. Just go 07 and have an easy mind knowing you don't have those problems.

Tire feathering can usually be fixed with a alignment, I would not worry about that with an 06. To be completely honest, if you are dead set on a 350z, buy a 08 and save your self the troubles with the chance of the oil consumption on a 06 and the clutch problem on the 07. Plus the HR motor in the 07's+ is very nice.

a) is there a decent fix? The only fix is to have the engine replaced
b)Was it Nissan covered? Yes
c)If not, what does the fix entail $$ wise.
d)Is this one of those problems that appears by a certain mileage or not at all?It could happen anytime, every 06 owner I know has the v2 engine due to warranty.
Hope this helps!

The fix is a new motor. Some members have gotten new motors some have not. Is the problem transmission related. Of course not.

...also you get the more powerful HR engine and beautiful hood bulge (I like how it's reminiscent of the 240z)
