Looking into buying a Z
I'M 17 going to be 18 in July, and I was thinking about getting a 350z for graduation/birthday.
I look at craigslist, and cars.com regularly and notice some cars that are 11-13k for a 03/04 with about 70-100k miles, I was just wondering if it is even worth buying one with that many miles?
I was hoping to spend about 12k, but hopefully I could spend up to maybe 14k.
Any ideas?

JoshGlzBrk - Don't worry about the dorks like davidv, they all come in packs, and for every 10 responses about 1 won't be pure garbage.
Anyway, it's worth it to buy a higher mileage Z, as long as it's thoroughly inspected and doesn't show any signs of tire feathering or transmission troubles. Some 03-04 cars were perfect, and some weren't. Just keep on looking and don't jump on the first one.
The main thing is, when you finally get one, be responsible with it.

well the nissan 3.5 is one of the most reliable engines ever produced...but 03 and 04 have other underlying issues that could make this a bad choice for you at this age and point in your career/life, unless of course your parents plan on paying for the fixes too

Yes it's definitely worth buying a higher mileage Z, just don't buy an 03. I test drove 2 2003's and both grinded gears. (one had 45k miles, one had 60k miles) I used to have an 04.5 Z with no problems, if it's an 04 and the last 6 digits of the VIN are 160XXX or higher, its an 04.5.. pretty sure tire feathering/transmission issues were fixed by this time. Better yet find a 2005 non-25th anniversary edition.. no problems with that year.
