+111 with everyone else

Everybody and their mom beats on retals, especially one like theZ.
It makes me just cringe at the image of some idiot bouncing off the rev limiter all day. Unless you have $$$ stashed to rebuild the motor, stay AWAY

if it is cheap enough to the point where it makes up for the possible motor and tranny abuse then buy it. but every rental i have ever had has seen dirt roads at high speeds

I wouldn't without a SERIOUS warranty on the car. Or if the price was in the low hundreds....

It's fun.

They aren't mine.

Because I hold all that abuse back from my Z so when I get a rental it feels months and months of built up wrath.

Because I can.

I WOULD NEVER BUY A RENTAL.

I would, however, and just did, buy a leased vehicle, but even then, you need to do your research and make sure you feel comfortable that person who leased it took care of it. Particularly a girl or an older person is the preferred previous owner of choice. But to be honest, I don't even know if I would look a leased SPORT car.
I can second that.........

It really depends on how low the price is, most used Z's have likely seen their fair share of abuse (even the "babied" ones). When I bought mine it was four years old, had only 8300 miles, and still had bald tires and a clutch that went 500 miles later.

I wouldn't buy it unless it was an absolute steal but if the price is attractive enough ask to have it examined buy an independent mechanic of your choosing. If they decline, walk away.

absolutely not, i worked for a big name rental car company for 7 years... I was able to drift everything from a chevy metro to a dodge caravan. If there were a z in the fleet, it woulda been toast!

Yea i would say dont do it. I mean if everything looks good.......................but still. I know there may be a ford taurus out in Pheonix somewhere from enterprise that we aired out over some gnarly roads more than a handfull of times.

I would get a complete drivetrain check done on it before i would even consider it. But ex rentals are treated rough. I mean you pay $10 for extra insurance and its off to the demolition track. We rented a Prius in Vegas while on vacation, it was slow as hell but it was all they had left. We would pull up to the red light and rev the engine up to redline and throw it in drive trying to race people for laughs.

Ever seen the movie CKY? There movies Bam and them did before they got famous and rich. Where they blow up the rental car and only had to pay 15$ for extra insurance.
