Question 350/70z as a first car?

My earliest memory of riding in cars was that of my dads old 300ZX, he was going to pass it down to me, but a few years back, ran into big money problems, and had to sell it off along with his house, so that put a damper on that. All that being said though, i have been dead set on being a Z owner since i was a youngster.

Im now 20 years old, and have never owned a car, all my sisters got theirs handed to them - i have to work for mine ive been saving for four years, and have more than enough for a down payment, but not much else. My stepdad has offered to outright buy me a car, but i dont like handouts, and i dont want the same types of beaters my sisters had/have - my school and job are far from the house and i cant afford to be breaking down every week, so im just gonna have him help me obtain the car, then ill bust my *** to pay it off over a few years.

Im an experienced driver, despite never owning a car, been driving almost every day for five years, usually in my stepfathers audi, so the power factor really isnt an issue for me, i can handle the sports aspect just fine - what i want to know, are these cars reliable, what are any major problems that tend to arise with them, and are they worth the average ~20k listing price found at most dealers in their used conditions? I dont want to commit to a car that has problem after problem, just by nature of what it is, just because im in love with its look and swagger...

FYI - i will either be purchasing a 350 or 370, depending on which one i like more when it comes to test driving, and which one has the better price, features, and reliability.

Felt this was the best place to ask, seeing as how this entire forum is dedicated to my love

yes and if your cars total more than 50% of your income, in most cases you can't afford it
