VPP Code
So I found out my friend works at Nissan and figured I'd ask him about the VPP code, wondering if he could maybe give me one. He replied saying the code only applies to select Nissan and Infiniti models and the 350z isn't one of them but they may honor it for end of the year models.
Now I though I've read about other members using the VPP code on the 350, I'm almost positive I've heard it. But maybe those people were using it on the end of the year models and I didn't know it. Or maybe he just didn't know, or maybe he just didn't feel like giving me one lol. Anyways, can some one tell me whether or not the code does apply to new 350s. Is it posible it changes for 05? BTW He either works in CT or NY, I know he was plannin on moving but I dont know if he did yet. Any feedback would be great, thanks

First off it isnt a code, it is a form. The employee has to get a form and fill it out with your information and his. Then you take the form to your Nissan dealer and you have VPP. The form is also only good for 90 days.
And the VPP does apply for the 350z. I think it didnt for 03 just because it was the first year.
Good Luck

I've also read that it's the dealer's prerogative to accept a VPP for any purchase. In other words, just because you get one doesn't mean that you'll be able to walk into any dealership and he'll have to sell you a Z under the VPP program. There have been a number of members post here over the last two years inquiring about finding a dealer what would accept one on a Z.

If you want something off the lot you can also do that. I just wanted a particular combo.....I know they didnt do it for the 03 but started it for the 04's and now the 05's .....however many dealers many not accept the code/program for the Z...just call around your area.....that is what I did and found a dealer what would honor the program

Just bought a '05 Enthusiast Silverstone 6spd in So. Cal. no ordering, no waiting yesterday. In fact, perhaps because this weekend was month's end, I had several dealers who were willing to participate on the VPP program. Plus, quite frankly, even in So. Cal. the inventory of '05 350z's is damn hugh, so it is not like it was 2 years ago when the Z first came out.
Your buddy who works for Nissan needs to call a special 800 number to get you a VPP code. Once you give that to the dealer fleet manager, they take care of the rest.
Just as a point of reference the MSRP on mine was $29,470 and I paid out the door $29,485.13. Sales tax in OC is 7.75% and the rest is license and reg. Not too shabby. I have purchased 3 Nissans and an Infiniti this way.
If you find a dealer that knows what they are doing and they have the car you are looking for (meaning none of the wifey B.S. of "oh honey I don't know about the color, etc.") then the whole process should not take more than an hour.
I also paid all cash for mine (no financing) so it would probably be a good idea to get your financing secured and lined up if that is the route you are taking.
One good way of going about it is to do a search on the nissanusa website and find a dealer that has the specific Z you are looking for. Then call and speak only to the FLEET MANAGER to confirm that the car is still there and that they are willing to participate in the VPP on Z. Do not mess around with the minion sales hacks for they were most likely selling life insurance a week ago.
You can get all the info off of Nissan's own VPP website.

VPP=vendor participation program, or something to that effect, ford calls it the x-plan and GM the GM supplier discount.
